BLUE RODEO .... while I am not a full blown country fan, this band is one of the great, unrecognized, country-rock bands in history. The "Five Days in May" album is in my all time top 20...

That's just crazy talk. Decent reckid and all, but I rank their Diamond Mine as easily their best.

Sentimental reasons... two songs on "Five Days" make me stop breathing.

Don't know yet. Don't care that much, either. I'm just all dorky excited over the kiss.

I've been invited by an old friend to a small get-together at a contemporary's house who I don't even remember. Problems I see with this:

1) It would be old people, like me.
2) Bad music, if any, would be guaranteed.
3) Would have to stay sober to drive.

Fuck all that.

This might be one of the only reasons to have a kid, to have a d.d.

Maybe you can adopt a 16 year old by then.

The 25 yr old twins and the 17 yr old live 200 miles away- and they would HATE me for making them endure such an event. Hell, I would hate me.

wow, you're old.

and it's not about hate. it's about need. families are supposed to pull together in times of need.

Hell yes, I'm old. Not a secret. You figure out about families and write me a treatise on it, young friend.

I hope i'm cool when i'm old. For real.

What do your kids listen to?

And as far as families, i've figured out that kids aren't for me, or rather, that i'm not for kids.

New Year's Eve... working until 9pm or so, then going to the bar at Transmetropolitan. That's the closest to an actual bar open since NYE is a Sunday. In Athens, Sundays=No bars open that aren't really restaurants. Also, in Athens, Sundays=what is open closes at midnight. So woo hoo. I bet I open at 7am on New Years Day, too.

I hook my kids up to more stuff than vice versa. The twins are both huge Neubauten fans, which I admit to not being into all that much.

I'll be in Lower Hutt, near Wellington, for most of January, then wandering around the country until Feb 19.

I am either going to an 80's night at the local electronic/techno bar called The Bricktop or just mongering at O'rourkes, it really depends on whether or not my friend from Omaha decides to come down and how much cash I can blow.

I couldn't have asked for a better end to 2006:

Saturday: Got club level seats for the Peach Bowl (UGA vs Va Tech)

Sunday: Centro-Matic and Drive By Truckers at the Variety Playhouse.

The Variety has one of the coolest traditions in all the Atlanta clubs/venues for NYE. They hand out shots to the crowd at midnight only it's not liquor, it's Pabst Blue Ribbon.

Kinda silly to take a shot of beer but it's also kinda cool to see everyone take a shot of PBR at midnight.

Y' know, they have a saying in 'Sconsin, & it goes... I know it's in 'Sconsin, I assume it's in Georgia, goes, Fool me once, shame -- shame on you. Fool me twi... You won't get fooled again.

Say NO to PBR.

Why are people so down on the Peebers? It's a good solid beer, i like it better than bud or miller or coor's.

Well, I rarely turn to the Blue Ribbon but in this instance I find it gloriously trashy.

By the time this midnight toast rolls around I most likely will have already gone to the liquor anyway.

Probably stay at home but I might go to a friend's bar in New Orleans for:

The Truth Brass Band, Big Sam's Funky Nation and DJ Kemistry.
