I'm not an American football fan. And the only reason I really go to Super Bowl parties is for the friends, booze and food. However, I'm all for watching a good game between evenly-matched teams. So, I ask you, the Obner Football Freaks (I say that with affection), is the game worth watchig this year?

Yes, mainly since most Super Bowls since '98 (Denver, Green Bay) have been worth watcing.

I gave up on pro football a long time ago, but I'll watch the SB this year, mainly because it's happening in my home town, and I miss home.

As an Eagles fan, nothing can prevent me from watching this, but I think the two best teams (in their respective conferences) are in the Super Bowl so it should be interesting. A lot of people are predicting that the Patriots will blow out the Eagles but I just don't see it. The Pats, if you remember, beat both the Rams and Panthers in their last two Super Bowls by 3 points on a last minute kick by Vinatieri. In my opinion, this game will be close and there will be so many sub-plots to follow (Will TO play? The Freddie Mitchell-Rodney Harrison War of Words, etc.). Should be interesting.

I'll be driving home from a weekend in the mountains right about when the game is on. I'd go to a party if there was good food, good drinks, and good people, but I rarely except the game to be worth a damn. Your milage may vary.

That's all nice, Chris, but I have no idea who those people or what sort of history they have. As a non-fan, will the game be riveting, will it be exciting? The Patriots are returning winners? Is there a big rivalry between the two teams? Where IS the game this year anyway?

I think so, despite a lot of expectations for a mismatch.
Yes.
Not yet.

I keep telling myself it is going to be a good game, but I am starting to doubt it. With TO less than 100%, I can't see McNabb being able to do all that much against the Pat's secondary. I don't think it will be a blowout, but I am not sure how interesting it will be.

I think it'll be quite interesting for a non-fan, Tania. Two great organizations with a lot of pride (both from the Northeast) and players with a lot of energy and intensity. This game should at least have one or two awesome hits. It's a can't miss in my opinion. I don't think it's gonna be a high scoring game. It's gonna be a game with lots of hits, intensity, fumbles, you name it.

I'm prediciting blow out. It's not because I think the Eagles are bad I just think the Pats are THAT good and nothing in these playoffs has shown me different.

I'm kind of torn on who I want to win. It's hard not to like the way the Pats play TEAM ball but do I really want the New England fans to have another championship along with the Red Sox. Boston fans can't bitch about ANYTHING sports related for at least 10 years

On the other hand I like McNabb but hate the Eagles for taking down my beloved Falcons.

One more thing: I like the way Tom Brady takes care of business but could the guy be more vanilla? Granted I think he is a winner and a leader but he is close to entering Roger Staubach territory. When the Grandmothers of the world are saying "Oh I like that Tom Brady, he seems like such a nice boy", you are going to start bringing out the haters. Talk some trash Tom, gimmie something.

Unless I really care about the teams, the game itself becomes an afterthought what with the booze, food, and hanging with buddies.

Don't really give a damn this year but suppose I'll be rooting for the Eagles.

I rooted against the Sox when I saw Schilling shilling for Bush.

Yes, I am that petty and that partisan.

Or you could just be one of those people who watch for the commercials.

But I think it is going to be a great game.

Watching the Eagles soundly thrash the Patriots is going to be the most entertaining television since finding out who shot J.R.

When will you people learn to stop picking against the Pats. I am not a fan. But you can't argue against this team.

Oh, and Freddie Mitchell needs to shut his pie hole. If I was McNabb. I'd stand behind him in news conferences and just smack him in the back of the head everytime he said something stupid. HE IS NOT T.O. And never will be. Anyway, it's just stupid.

I'd love the Pats to lose (just not to the fucking Eagles), but I just don't think it's gonna go folks.

Anyone who rocks a Championship belt gets a free pass from me. It takes the art of shit talking to new heights, and I applaud that.

I'm gonna roots for the Eags, but I hate for people like Rory to be able to enjoy ANYTHING, knowwhatImsaying, Smoke Dog?

I don't have a problem with Freddie trash talking. It's the Pats who are whining like bitches. Harrison even mentioned Vanderjagt who isn't even involved. Bitches!

Well I say it's about time they started talkin' trash. THEY NEVER DO IT!!! Because they know they're the best. They mention him because he's another example of a busta who talked smacked and got his ass handed to him. A KICKER talkin' trash/ reciever with only like 22 receptions for the year talkin' trash = WTF!!!
