when henry smashes the guy that lives accross the street from Karen in the face with his gun over and over, wouldn't that easily kill someone?

either way, great scene.

I SWEAR TO GOD YOU TOUCH HER AGAIN AND YOU'RE DEAD!!!!

The perfect blow could possibly be deadly but I think a broken nose and maybe a cheek bone are more likely.

no, i don't think pistol-whipping will necessarily kill, but i suppose it could. if you hit certain spots repeatedly, it'd definitely kill a person.

It all depends on how hard you hit someone. My brother almost killed someone just by punching them in the nose.

It looked like as hard as he was hitting him he would have been much more seriously hurt, but yes. great scene.

Nothing wrong with that.

And I think the nose area - breaking that bone area and pushing it in toward the brain and air passage - is the likeliest way to off someone during a pistol whipping. Can't remember if Henry goes for that area, though.

Henry let Paulie down by dealing drugs, but Paulie let Henry down first by not "putting food on the table" for Karen while Henry was locked up.

discuss.

paulie was too behind on times to realize that drugs were the next financial boon for organized crime (see also: the godfather, set years prior). he should've just turned a blind eye. as any good businessman, henry was simply following the money. it's not an excuse and it's not paulie's sole responsibility to aid someone's family when they're in the can, especially when they're not doing as well themselves, but these indiscretions should be minor, considering other problems that come with such a lifestyle.

It's all an argument based on honor among thieves of which there is none. There is no moral winner or loser.

You gain power and status by forcing your way into the game, which Harry did in the drug game. Paulie just didn't want to mess with drugs because he didn't want to enter a game where he knew he would lose. He wanted to stick to his old ways where he felt secure.

And, if Henry wanted his old lady taken care of when he was away, he should have set something up for her himself. Relying on some scumb bag to play Mr. Nice Guy and look after his loved ones is just stupid.

Yeah, while not defending the classic Mafia lifestyle, it at least tried to mask itself under the facade of honor and used some finesse, the drug trade has been basically a lawless system with no real established code of conduct.

he could of been hitting him in the mouth or head rather than straight away on the nose facial area.

Just saying...

Goodfellas is one of my favourite movies. I just bought it on HD-DVD yesterday and this thread makes me want to watch it right away. The face-smashing scene should look amazing.

Lorraine Brocco should have won for her roll or at least been nominated if she wasn't...

She lost to Whoopi "Where the fuck are my eyebrows" Goldberg. No relation to Bill Goldberg.
