and is there anyway to check on itunes if the IPOD doesnt have the artwork loaded? I'm playing the songs directly from my ipod, not from sa library on my pc. I'm really not wanting to go thru each album on my ipod and make a note of which do and dont have artwork

One way to assure the artwork is ALWAYS there...
Buy the damn CD.

"Display Album Artwork" is an iPod setting. Gotta check that box when the iPod is plugged in. If it doesn't work initially, copy over an album not the iPod that has artwork on it. I don't think you'd have to re-copy everything, but...

And if you find a way to figure out how to filter artwork/non-artwork, let me know. Would help me a lot too.

i always have 'display artwork' checked, unless it somehow gets unchecked for random albums and I just don't notice. ah well.

Yeah, this is a recurring problem for me, too. Some albums WITH ART show up on iPod with NO ART. And when I connect the iPod to check the file, is again shows as being WITH ART. Of all the technological superiority to which Apple can lay claim, it's kind of embarrassing that they can't figure out something as simple as ALBUM ART.

yeah this is a bug in iTunes...the way that I get around this is, after I add an album to iTunes, right click track #1 and choose Get Info...then press the Next button til I've "looked" at every track on the album...now add to your iPod...I haven't had a single album art issue since I started doing this

I know, that's an annoyingly stupid thing to have to do just to get the damn thing to work the way that it's supposed to...I first started doing this a few versions back and I was hoping that it was fixed by now, but apparently not

and to answer Ryan's original question, I don't think there's an easy way to identify which tracks have art and which don't

what also sucks is that apparently you can't add art to a pc-formatted ipod while hooked up to a mac. unless again i'm missing something.

my iPod didn't show album artwork and it wouldn't play nearly half the songs on it. So i took about 300 songs off and now it all works fine.

I have the best results with applying the art in itunes, on my HD, before I copy it to the Ipod. Sometimes though, you have to drag the damn art over every single track to make sure it's there on pod.
