thanks. it did take me over 2 weeks to come up with but it was fun. the criteria was no repeat artists (although i did cheat with the beach boys and patti smith) so that helped. i never did do a listmania for favorite albums. i smell another dive in productivity at work coming up.

The total awesome-itude of this list cannot be summarized, so I'll just pull out a half dozen that I would go play right now if they weren't all in storage:

ayah Wrote:
1. The Ronettes - Be My Baby
9. The Pretenders - The Cuban Slide
24. Rockpile - Heart
53. Richard Thompson - Wall of Death
60. Nick Lowe - Dose Of You
76. Friends of Distinction - Grazin’ in the Grass

I may finally have to finish my Listmania II as well.

Wow, what a song! Ben Harper's mean, growling guitar on that track is just about worth the price of the album. The rest of it's pretty good, too.

i've had my own weekly singles countdown since july 1984. the all-time #1 is "tonight, tonight" by smashing pumpkins.

However, i have stringent rules for countdown qualification. If i didn't, there'd most likely be a different #1. Of course, if i didn't, i'd spend 8+ hours every saturday trying to complete it...

I'll dig up my Listmania II list and probably switch a lot of stuff around.

Jeff Buckley's Lover You Should Have Come Over will still be #1. That's all I know for sure. I think...

Stop posting listmania II lists.

I want a handful of the tunes you could not live without.
Has anyone's changed lately?
I had to add Modest Mouse - Doin' the Cockroach because that tune RAWKS!

It's cliche but- A Day in the Life is my favorite pop song ever

It'll be Me by Jerry Lee Lewis has been "rendered" so many times by others because its such a great fucking song

Wave of Mutilation was my college anthem

Twenty Four Hours by Joy Division was my moody high school anthem

In a Jar by Dinosaur Jr has always stayed with me.

Check out the version on their Peel Sessions album. It shreds.
