Should we do blurbs again for the shmoo poll, considering that doing so could delay the results into February? Another option is to do blurbs for fewer than the top 20, hopefully to speed things up.

Also looking for a volunteer to organize again, like chase and KPH did in the past.

I'm almost certain that at least one of yours will be in there, if not many more.

the one thing about this board is that, no matter what it is - blurbs, mix exchanges, etc., people aren't really punctual. this should be accounted for when making a decision about blurbs. finding out that an album that's been talked about ad nauseam is our collective favorite of 2006 two months into 2007 doesn't really affect me (or many others) too much, though.

Yeah, I'm with Z (and speak from experience, having just gone through this logistical nightmare over at Hip-D). Punctuality is definitely a concern when undertaking something like this.

Hence my original posting. Obviously, if the blurbs were available on 1/15, there'd be no reason not to do them.

Yes, 20. If people aren't getting their shit done on time, give the job to someone else.

i'm on another board where blurb assignments are doled out and expected to be returned in 2 days. if it's not sent in, the album doesn't get a blurb. i think it's too difficult to wait for the deadline and then assign undone blurbs to other people when everyone else just wants to see what did and didn't place. i seem to remember it taking a long time last year just because of a couple people. i say give 2-3 days for people to write something and then post the results with whatever you have. and then out those who didn't write.

I just think that blurbs can be way more entertaining than the results, especially done the way they were last year. That's why I think it would be a shame to not have any for some of the choices.

Maybe 3 or 4 people could volunteer for "clean up" and could write quick ones for anyone who doesn't make their deadline?

I think the thing that hung up people last year was the idea to listen to an album in the top 20 that you hadn't heard before. I had to listen to Bloc Party and I wanted to listen to it a bunch before I wrote the blurb.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that gimmick. It was a cool idea though. But it does take more time. Not only for the write-up, but also to find a person to write it up.

No blurbs please. Poll will be out in april, and blurbs will still be like last minute homework asignments.

Why do you care? You're a newlywed, now,... Shouldn't you be more worried about fucking your wife than what Frosted does or does not have to say about Lucero?

Cariño De Mis Cariños was pretty good and she showed good range in Lazos De Amor as the Iturbe triplets.

I say yes. Glad to write a few. I'm not tech savvy enough for anything but that.
