I saw a flight from Chicago to Austin for $384 and it's eight hours. The layover is in Minnesota. wtf.

David Byrne just announced as an interviewee -- added to the other list of Pete Townsend, Gilberto Gil and Emmylou Harris. Some performers already announced: THE STOOGES!!!, Interpol, Bloc Party, Lily Allen, and Cold War Kids.

looks like i'll be at a few of those gigs (but i hope i don't have to see lily allen again because i was NOT impressed with her live).

My friends and I are going Wed- Sun i believe perhaps its Thurs- Sun though. Anyway for those of you who got badges or wristbands, did you pay the 500 or how much did it run you. 450 for college students is still steep for me.

i think wristbands are around $100 but it's near impossible to get them.

I lagged on the early purchase and paid $495 for my music badge. Expensive? Oh hell yeah! Worth it? FUCK YEAH!

i got invite badges to cmj music fest nights from AAM and some other places. Think i can get that sort of thing for SXSW due to my Music Director ties.

Would love to go. But way too broke. The trip itself might be possible, but the badge/wristband? Nope. One or the other. Sadness abounds here in Athens. For nothing would make me happier than some serious debauchery with some kids I hardly know. (this is not sarcasm. this is a 'change of pace' i could seriously use). But it's not to be, financially. What are the options for those not having a badge/wristband? I've also never gone to this or been to Austin, so I don't know what the back up plan could be... fill me in on time, and perhaps I can at least make the trip... at least for the party itself.

So, the nights of March 15 (Thursday) and 16 (Friday) need to be the epic Obner/Hip-D mongerthon!!!

No hookups for me either this year - unless a magical freelance gig falls out of the sky.
So I'mma just live off the fat of the land as much as possible.
As a two-time SXSWer let me make this clear: if you're at all desirous of going and think you can make it to Austin, by all means GO! Badge or wristband be damned. Too amazing a spectacle to miss.
