This movie was good enough that I wish that I'd waited for the DVD (or heaven forbid that it was playing in my town). I think that I liked it better than Children of Men, and I'm not sure that the themes are completely incompatible between the two.

Just got home from seeing this. Thought it was great. Kind of surprised at the 99% score on Rotten Tomatoes, though.

I saw it over the weekend and enjoyed it also. It was very understated. I actually wouldn't have minded more of the fantasy type stuff, especially Pale Man or whatever they're calling him.

I've got track down Cronos now.

They better be offering some blotters at the theatre.

All I know is, the AMC in MKE better show this. They've had the poster in one of the "coming soon" cases for about four months, just taunting me, & taunting me....

Milwaukee should get it in a few locations, though I doubt it'll come to Madison.

Milwaukee sucks. Is there some cool theater i don't know about.

The Downer and The Oriental are the two that carry indie type movies.

Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me.... You forget the AMC, Pape. Eighteen-screens multiplex, large enough that two or three boast indie-styled cinema. (Granted, sometimes, drech like Art School Confidential (but at least it only stayed one week.)

Plus, they have Indo-cinema, now. Bollywood. (I'm 'bout it.)

What is this movie about? I don't think it's playing here...

IMDB Wrote:
"Pan's Labyrinth" is the story of a young girl who travels with her pregnant mother to live with her mother's new husband in a rural area up North in Spain, 1944, after Franco's victory. The girl lives in an imaginary world of her own creation and faces the real world with much chagrin. Post-war Fascist repression is at its height in rural Spain and the girl must come to terms with that through a fable of her own.

I finally saw this tonight. It's playing only at two theatres here so I had to go out of my way to find it but it was worth the trek out from the volcano.

Man, that was gory. Why are Spanish films like that?

Pan's Labrynth scared the shit out of me and made me cover my own eyes. I can't wait to see it again.

I loved the fauns and the little girl and Mercedes. Great film.

Saw this tonight, and was really into it. I really dug how well the effects were implemented and not so overblown. Many points you wondered whethere it was CG or puppet, or both (see--the Faun).

I'm glad films like this are still made. Seems like we live in a world now, that if things aren't hyperrealistic, audiences cannot get behind them. Its nice to suspend believe in a theater once in awhile.

Honestly, they could have made this movie 2 hours longer and I still would have had my eyes glued to the screen.

I always knew Guillermo del Toro had this kind of a movie in him.

True, and I'm hoping this at least gets the treatment Hellboy got on DVD with all the production notes, and feature-length doc on the making of it.

This finally hit a theater locally so I saw it tonight.

Intense movie and I wasn't really expecting the gore (even though a co-worker warned me... but he tends to overblow things like that.)

I loved the ending. Yowza.
