Did I miss this on here somewhere? I just read this and heard something on Ron & Fez on XM about it.

Police reunion rumors reaching fever pitch Wed Jan 3, 5:48 PM ET

NEW YORK (Billboard) - Rumors are swirling that the Police will reunite for 2007 dates in England and the United States, which would be the rock trio's first since disbanding in 1986.

Sources told Billboard.com the reports -- in the British press -- were legitimate, but they would not publicly comment until final details are nearer to completion.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the release of "Roxanne," the single that broke the Police in the United States. In a statement issued last month, A&M Records said, "It is our intention to mark the anniversary by doing something special with the band's catalog of songs. Needless to say, everyone is hopeful the band will support our plans and while early discussions have taken place, nothing has been decided."

Sources say in addition to DVD releases, A&M is planning another multi-disc collection in the vein of 1993's "Message in a Box," which featured the band's complete studio recordings and a handful of rarities.

A Police reunion has been the concert industry's dream for two decades, as it is believed the band could play stadiums internationally should it choose to reunite. But besides an impromptu set at Sting's 1992 wedding to Trudie Styler, the Police's only other post-breakup performance was in celebration of its 2003 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

And while Sting has repeatedly expressed reluctance at reuniting, drummer Stewart Copeland and guitarist Andy Summers have kept the flame alive. This summer, Summers told Billboard he was certain the group could have continued past its 1983 commercial peak with "Synchronicity."

"The more rational approach would have been, 'OK, Sting, go make a solo record, and let's get back together in two or three years,"' he said. "I'm certain we could have done that. Of course we could have. We were definitely not in a creative dry space. We could have easily carried on, and we could probably still be there. That wasn't to be our fate. It went in another way. I regret we never paid it off with a last tour."

I'd rather see the Hot Cops on tour.

I'm gonna be a bastard and root against this, for the wholly selfish reason that I want to remain one of the very few Obnish to have actually seen The Police in concert (Synchronicity tour, November 1983, Southpark Meadows in Austin -- UB40 and Joe "King" Carrasco & The Crowns opened).

I wish I were Stewart Copeland.

That's funny I was justthinking this morning that I wanted to find out what the deal was with that. They kept talking about doing a 'walkover' but I didn't really get it.

Probably will never really get a chance to listen to that show just because when I get home, there's usually NO computer stuff going on. But that is pretty cool.

Ron & Fez = Funniest show I've ever heard on radio. Openly WAY better than O&A AND Stern.

never heard them, but i don't think so. those localized versions of Loveline were all over the place back then (ATL had one too) but not so much anymore.

I'm really starting to agree with you especially because they don't need all the side players and characters to be at their best--in fact their show at its best is just them PLUS they also have that serious side of the show where they interview a lot of (especially documentary) film directors that is just as top notch.

O&A fucking hate how talented they are.

I might consider going if the ticket prices are reasonable.

U2 hate, Police hate, I wonder if any of you people even like music with any hint of a melody.

And that rock hall performance was amazing when you consider that about 20 seconds in, copeland hit the snare drum so hard it exploded (with a traditional jazz grip too, what a beast). Most bands would have buckled like a belt but they didn't even get fazed.

Anyhow, I'm all for this.

No hate for the police here. Amazing catalog.

And I still believe they stopped at exactly the right time.

I'd like to feel excitement over a police tour...I was a big fan of the first few albums as a kid and have no hate for them now. I'd have to imagine they'll be playing stadiums and big ampitheatres though and charging $$$ for tix and I just don't care that much anymore.

Yeah, not sure if I'd pay the asking price. I'm betting at least $75 a pop for nosebleed seats.

Now, I'd glady pay it if they would play "Man in a Suitcase" and Stewart came out from behind the drum kit and beat Sting with a dead baby seal.
