Some surprising choices, Uncle Monger.

Also, no "Lordz" or whatever that piece of shit you sent me was

really, cat power? i'm not critiquing the choice, as i've never heard the album, but i didn't peg you as a cat power lover (plus i hated moon pix).

Rads, did you check out the Willie Nile album? If you posted feedback on it, I missed that and apologize for the gross oversight.

Damn. Didn't know you were so taken with this album. I think it's great. In my top 10.

What's the story on You Am I?

Is that the Australian band?

Definite grower. Your memory is like a rusty vice.

It's still on my list of must-hears. I've been a casual Nile fan since his '80 debut.

Yep, the Aussie band. It's conventional rock'n'roll, nothing that'll challenge your definition of music - but they've really tapped into their Replacements side on this new one.

I really liked the You Am I comp you sent me; I'll have to hear that whole album sometime. I also am surprised to see Sparklehorse on the list. I never would have pegged you as a fan.

I need to know what I'm in for when I go to their concert with jagged and the unnamed Obner mystery guest.

my sentiments exactly. Although it wasn't my number one, it was in my top twenty.

I need to finally hear some solo Nikki Sudden. How does that one stack up to Jacobites and his older solo stuff?

That Calexico album may yet work its way into my top 20. I was initially put off by the sound of it (seeming like an attempt at more radio-friendliness), but the songs have really stuck with me.

Now that I think about it more, I am actually surprised you made one of these lists because I didn't think you listened to anything released after the early 90's. :)

Great list A !
I have six of your entries in my TOP 20.
The BIG surprise is Cat Power as your numero uno. Other than the title track which is fantastic, I listened to it quite a bit in the early part of the year but it just never clicked with me. I may need to give it another shot.
I'm one to talk cos my #1 record hasn't been on one list and I know for a fact that you're not a fan. Hoping to post it by next week.

BTW - that Beige record has been growing on me in a big way.

Rads plays Humbug (not Hamburg) just to keep us on our toes. He likes more than 50% of the stuff he claims to hate. Either that or just uses his energy to post only about stuff that he really does hate.

I'm with you on that Cat Power. Much better than her prior work.
I suspect that you haven't heard the new Guy Clark or it would probably be there.
