Can I get a RIYL on that Ginger? Maybe a YSI if you think it's that good?

Never heard that Fags record...but they've been good live a few times. Gonna have to check that out.

I was gonna comment about Bleu, but saw this was a list of things you heard in 2006, not was released in said year. I was sorta smitten with his songs for about 5 minutes when I got a sampler, but it didn't stick.

I can't do YSI's, but the Ginger's available thru all the usual downloading places. As far as a RIYL, it sounds like most of his other stuff by & large. It's basically a concept album about the split-up between him & his longtime gf/mother of his kids.

The Fags album I heard about thru a power pop blog, & snagged it from Rhapsody. It's mainly for those who like 80's style rock/pop, or thought the Goo Goo Dolls were a good band a loooooong time ago.

The Bleu stuff's a little more melodramatic than I normally go for, but the album won me over. And yeah, I don't go for the "albums must've been released this calendar year" deal. :)

I've listened to the Damone album about 9000 times in the last 6 months, & still LOVE it. You should check out the 4 bonus tracks from the Japanese version, too - at one point, they had 'em up on their site. Dunno if they're still there.

I thought The Fags had broken up or something. I'd like to hear what their full-length sounds like.

That bleu album has been a steady companion since 03. I skip two tracks on it, and everything else is pretty fucking awesome to drive to.

Which 2?

I guess there's 2 different versions of that record, with slightly different track listings. I'd like to pick up his debut album, but it's a little too pricey/obscure.

headspace isn't worth the cash, but that L.E.O. album that he put out this year is fucking great.

I've got the Columbia version released in 03, not the Aware version from 02. The 03 version has got some co-writing done with Andy Sturmer from Jellyfish.

And I skip 3 tracks, We'll Do it All Again, You Know I Know You Know, and 3's a Charm (christ that song sucks), but there's 2 hidden tracks that are after 3's a charm that are the two best songs on the album by far.

That L.E.O. record was part of the reason he made my list - it's actually a Bleu/L.E.O. entry.

And I've got the Aware version of Redhead.
