which albums have grown on you most in 2006? one of them for me is definately grizzly bear. i was kind of indifferent the first couple times through, but has continued to get more and more play. embrace would be another one. their always going for poppy sounds and big choruses has grated on me in the past, and they did on this album the first few times through but i was able to push through that to really liking it.

Paul Simon - Surprise

Most of you hate this. Yeah, I wasn't too crazy about it the first listen or two,but it kept pulling me back in. Now, I like it a lot. No, it's not another Graceland or Here Comes Rhymin' Simon, but it's good. Very good.

You disagree.
Okay.

The Hold Steady was a grower for me, I didn't like it as much as the first two records at first, but it crept up on me.

Mates of State was a big one for me. Was kind of meh at first, but now it's one of my go-to albums.

I just listened to that album yesterday, and wasn't really into it. Sounds like I need to give it another chance. By the way, thanks for the recommendation on Klanguage, I am digging that record!

Mine's a shower, not a grower.

The first time I heard new tracks from the new YYYs I was thinking I'd like it more than Fever. But as I listened to it a little more, nothing was really clicking, except for maybe "Phenomena" and "Dudley." I let it collect dust for a good 6 or so months and started playing it again. By December it had entered my top 20. Sneaky little fucker.

I hated the Girl Talk record when I first heard it but couldn't stop listening to it after about 2 weeks.
