I like my punk more straight forward.

I don't consider them to be punk really, but I think most do.

They're post-punk, I guess. Or post-post-punk. I dunno.

They're a rock band.

Seeing "Reclamation" performed live circa '93 or so was one of the best 'holy fuck, this is un-fucking-real' concert moments of my life.

I can only imagine. That songs makes my skin tingle, my palms sweat and sends my energy through the roof. It has been one of my favorite songs since the first time I heard it in 1991. The combination of the up-tempo guitar and groovy-ass bassline is one of the coolest fucking sounds ever put to tape. Damn this is making me want to pull out Steady Diet.

I remember my good college friend Bex calling me up for her radio show to tell me to tune in for a surprise. She had an advance copy of Steady Diet and when I first heard "Reclamation" kick in I was floored. I totally agree that it is one of the coolest fucking sounds ever put to tape.

Funny thing, don't know if it's an age difference thing or what, but after Repeater, I didn't pay too much attention to Fugazi. Always kinda dug the whole DIY ethic though, although I've heard from various sources that Ian Mackaye is a prick in "real life." Who knows, but it wouldn't surprise me.

If you read the liner notes within Twenty Years of Dischord, you certainly get the impression that MacKaye possesses not an ounce of respect for Jeff Nelson (the co-owner, & who has played in three (?) bands with him). So, yes, I can see the dick comment proving true.
