If the list you were making was "Top 10 Beatles Originals You'd Never Miss If They Went Away," then yes.

Well, it's about Lennon's dealer, a dude who prescribed amphetemines to anyone and everyone and lost his medical license two years after Revolver came out. But yeah, other than that, it's not their most complicated song and really just a druggie "I Feel Fine."

Though it's fun to sing.

I will never understand why I like "Good Morning Good Morning" so much. Paul's stilted solo, the succession of animal noises (each larger than the last), or the freakishly annoying background vocals.

"Yer Blues"
"I've Got a Feeling"
"Blackbird"
"I'm So Tired"

I almost didn't open this thread (you know when you see the dead dog on the road ahead and you decide you are not going to look?)

Don't Let me Down
You've Got to Hide Your Love Away

She said, She said

She said you don't understand what I said
I said no, no, no you're wrong
When I was a boy, everything was right
Everything was right

She said
I know what it's like to be dead
I know what it is to be sad
I know that it's like to be dead (like the dog on the highway)

Guess I am in a dark John mood

Girl, yep

Hmm. How old are you? Is your mother named Ruth and was she a hippie living at the base of Mt. Shasta? You may be my son...

Is there some kind of board consensus against 'Strawberry Fields Forever'? cos its always been very high for me. Just a great fucking song, and then when you know the whole deal about it being released as a Double A side with Pennylane, one being about an enjoyable childhood, one about a shitty one, it makes it all the more better, to me.

I'd probably put 'Strawberry Fields Forever' as the best Beatles song.

Certainly in terms of pure craft and invention. The amazing trumpet blasts, Harrisons 'Indian' guitar, the crazy drumming...

The Beatles are just one of those bands that are taken for granted by everyone.
Of course they're EVERYONE'S favorite band. All the time...
So when you're asked "Who is your favorite band?" What you're really being asked is, "Who is your favorite band -- besides The Beatles?"

Except maybe you, alongwaltz. But I think you'll discover that they're your favorite band, too.

Saying you don't like the Beatles is llike saying that you don't like air. Musically, they are essential. Like Bach or Pathagyrous (sp?).

Haha. I have this image of harry with hair down below his shoulders, wearing some Indian baja pullover, on acid, telling people "I'm really getting a good vibe from you. Your aura is beautiful."

Completely and totally disagree. I, and many other people, are not big Beatle fans. I don't outright dislike them, but personally, I don't rerally dig 'em so much. Mostly I like a few of their earlier songs and don't like what they became msucially. Just not my thing. I do like John's Plastic Ono Band record though. And, Ringo seems like a fun guy. But, they are no where near a list I would compile of my favorite bands. Wouldn't even make the top 50...probably not the top 100.

I can understand what you're saying. but, it comes from YOUR love for the Beatles, not some universal loving of them. I kinda feel the same way about Elvis and have a couple friends that can't stand him. To me, that's completely absurd. But, they are both huge music fans...just don't like Elvis. And, that's their right...despite their being horribly misguided.

I agree that most people do like the Beatles pretty well, but it's far from a universal and they're nowhere close to being everyone's favorite band.

Alright, let's say the Beatles are water.

I don't especially like water. I might need it. And there wouldn't be juice without water. But I'd much rather have a glass of juice, than a glass of water.
