OK, so it looks like I'm going to organize this. Here's what I need from you guys:

If you want to write a blurb, post in this thread with 2 or 3 lists of albums that you want to write blurbs for. The first list will be albums that you like, the second will be albums that you don't like, and the third (optional) list will be albums that you haven't heard but are either curious about or have dismissed without hearing.

So for example, here's what I'd post here:

Like
Man Man - Six Demon Bag
Califone - Roots & Crown
M. Ward - Post-War
Clipse - Hell Hath No Fury
Liars - Drum's Not Dead

Don't Like
CSS
Thermals
Thom Yorke

Never Heard
The Knife
Phoenix

Preferably, list them in order of what you'd most want to write about. You can list as many or as few as you'd like, but please list more than one for each. Also, please don't give a list of 50 albums because that will make it nearly impossible to narrow down what I should give to you. For things in your like and don't like lists, please list stuff that you already have in some format.

The deadlines for writing these will be adhered to absolutely. If you don't get yours done in time, it doesn't get posted with the final list. I will give out deadlines individually when I give out the blurb assignments. I'm thinking of allowing 3-5 days for them. They shouldn't be too long (no more than about 100 words max) so there shouldn't much reason to take too much time.

I talked this over with shmoo and he gave me the go-ahead.

So do you want to write a blurb?

I think he meant that the blurb-writing will be a duel, not that you're dueling me.

I suspect there are going to be a lot of people signing up for "don't like joanna newsom" -- but I don't think it's going to be an issue in the end.

I assumed the idea was that each album would have a positive review, a negative review, and a to be determined review.

I think it's Filter that posts opposing perspectives on certain albums.

Yeah, ideally it will work out something like that, but I honestly don't expect three blurbs to get done on time for each one. If they do, great.

Also, don't be deterred if you feel like you haven't heard much from this year.

If you'd be willing to write a blurb and don't care what you write about, say so here.

oh hell I'll write something if I've heard the album. I'm not gonna listen to some shitty Antony and the Johnsons album again.

100 words? I'll do 100 words as a madlib and let you pick the nouns. I liked ghostface, peter bjorn and john, TVOTR, long winters, asobi seksu, and cold war kids. hated the strokes don't think i heard belle and sebastian...probably capable of hating a ton of other stuff as well. and i didn't hear anything really esoteric (on purpose, I'm old).

Really though I can do whatever you'd need me to. I'm flexible, and I have time.

100 words is too short?

I guess up to 200 words would be OK.

Whatever, I just want to make sure we have enough people to do it all and that they get done on time.
