My sister still hasn't spoke to me since I told her I wanted to have kids just to drown them. I was joking.

and then Louis CK said he understands why people leave their babies in dumpsters the other night. I bet his sister is still talking to him.

I don't mind kids but I have never wanted any of my own. This may change in the future, but I doubt it at this point.

I used to hate the idea of having a kid but recent events have changed my mind. I want one and I want it after I've settled down and married the right guy this time.

My wife and I are coming up on our 15th Wedding Anniversary. We have a 5 year old and a 2 year old.

We had the stance that we didn't need kids to "make our life complete" but someday wanted them if they happened once we booted birth control to the curb around year 7. I'm so glad that we did.

Anyway, my suggestion is to get married, spend at least a few years enjoying each other, paying down bills, buying things like cars and houses, and just making sure you're compatible as possible for the long term to actually bring another human into this world. This was your Dr. Phil moment.

That's not a reason, that's an urge.

Population dynamics... now THAT'S a reason to not have kids.

I used to really want a kid or two but a few things changed my mind.

1. I only want to be a father if i can be a good one, and i can't see being a good one and still remain extremely active as a musician. And I can't see giving that up.

2. I'm worn out enough from everything as is, i can't imagine throwing a kid into the mix.

3. I might end up with a girl, and having taught pre-K through 12th, girls don't have a good age. Plus, i'd end up being a psychotic asshole through the whole dating process.

4. There's no rhyme or reason to it. I've seen great kids and horrible kids come from both great homes and shitty homes.

5. Then there's the state of the world...

Been married going on 11 years and neither of us have a desire to have kids. We would possibly consider adopting or being foster parents, but don't want any of our own.

I'm a dick about kids. I kinda see 'em like puppies and kittens. There are more than enough out there needing good homes...no need to create any more. And, I think society acts like having kids is some sort of altruistic thing when to me it's mostly ego fullfillment. When I see people praised for having these giant broods of children, it kinda makes me throw up in my mouth a little. Yes, I know that's wrong, but it's the truth.

I used to be afraid that I would love a son more than a daughter, but my daughter is 1 and she is so precious. I love it that my wife dresses her up so cute. Her caring-hugging-smiling personality as compared to the energetic-discovery-destruction minded of my son is a nice change of pace.

I actually look forward to her bringing home guys. I look forward to scaring the crap out of them. I might buy a shotgun just for the occasion.

is there a reason you chose to be a teacher? it doesn't sound like you like kids too much.

Oh god. Not this again.

I want kids. I really don't want more than two though.

And I promise OPA!, I won't leave them outside alone in the summer heat with no shade...maybe just lock em in the closet when I need to go to the bar.

i know plenty of teachers who have no desire at all to have their own children. two are married and the husband got snipped at 26. i think they know something the rest of us don't.
