I'm curious what people prefer across the board.

I'm gonna vote "Things We Lost in the Fire", with "Secret Name" following.

The Curtain Hits the Cast because of "Do You Know How to Waltz?"

Things We Lost... would be second.

. . . I'm withholding passing judgment, well vocally offering judgment until it's officially out . . .

Neither Trust nor The Great Destroyer clicked with me once they started toying with their sound. I'm not sure how much I'm going to like the next one, seeing as how Fridmann is producing it as well. Low used to be one of my absolute favorites.

Fridmann has done great things for other bands, but Low should go back to Steve Albini.

Amen. Friddman's terrible for them. But I also think he's just generally shit (not knowingly aware of much of his other work). He does things that I think are virtually inexcusable, like hard vocal panning and overzealous use of reverse.

I voted Curtain 'cause it's more consistent than Secret Name or Trust, but my favorite songs are on the latter two--"I Remember" and "The Lamb." I'm all about the distant, hissy atmosphere.

I suspect everyone's favorite Low album is their first Low album.

I'm not prepared to make that leap.

I agree with GD being a grower. When it came out I snatched up a copy quick, but listened to it maybe 5 times before I gave up. Fast forward to a few weeks ago and I'm digging it. Perhaps its because I cannot find Alan's solo record in stores, and I'm too lazy to order it, so I'm looking for a replacement.

Not a bad theory. Certainly the case for me.

For me it's Things We lost In the Fire. Dinosaur Act got heavy air play in the twin cities back when this came out. My first Low album was Long Division.
