Impressive in concept. Wondering if a difference between that and a CD-ripped WAV can be discerned in a blind test.

drm probably.

edit: they seem to be going for cross platform compatibility and not worrying about drm, so using wma lossless instead of flac really makes no sense here

I don't know if it's compatibility cross-platform as much as with the most popular players. AFAIK, neither iTunes nor Windows Media Player support FLAC out of the box.

In addition to WMA, they also wanted to release songs using Apple lossless for the iTunes crew, but Jobs & Co. wouldn't let them (link).
