'to the races' is a bit starker than the crooked fingers output. 'dignity and shame' is one of my faves of 05, a great album, and "new drink for the old drunk" off of the 2000 debut is one of my favorite songs of recent. 'to the races' is also very good, but a little different from the CF stuff

Yeah, To the Races is considerably stripped down compared to Crooked Fingers. I like Races, but I prefer Crooked Fingers, especially Red Devil Dawn and Dignity & Shame.

Yeah, I think you can say that whatever you enjoy from "To the Races" that you'll find that in most of his work. I won't say that most of his music sounds the same, it is just fairly obvious to you that it is one of his songs after you listen to his work. I'm pretty sure it is mostly due to his voice.

I don't know if it was the stage or not, but he seemed to be REALLY tall when I saw him live.

Dignity & Shame and Red Devil Dawn are the only two Crooked Fingers albums I've heard, but I love them both.

To the Races was in my top 5. Big Eric Bachmann fan.
