A snow day... but no snow.

They're acting like it's Red Fucking Dawn on the news. They just referred to it as a "wintery blast" that might rival the freeze of "98". I'm laughing my ass off.

Still, the assholes that ARE on the road are driving with less acumen then the cops in Blues Brothers.

If they did get the blast it'd save a bunch on the border fence. A really long snowfort would do.

no, there was never actually supposed to be "snow". Rain, sleet, and evil freezing rain. And apparently it's raining assholes on the highway.

Huh, the buses are still running.

They just cut to a lady showing how there was frost on a windshield. And then she warned people NOT to get the mail, NOT to get the paper, NOT to go to work, cause the ice is gonna getcha!

Snow days are so rare in Atlanta that when even a hint of snow comes around people go into End of the World mode.

Grocery store shelves are emptied of everything and people stock up on kerosene and gas.

I'm pretty sure the Atlanta DOT doesn't even own a snow plow.

And they are usually met with an awesome mix of holing up in your house with the massive booze. Love them fake snow days.

Especially in college. Pretty sure that 20 minutes after the announcement was made I was in a bar downtown.

Never had snow days but I've been to some mean Hurricane Parties.

i grew up in an area of pennsylvania that typically gets a few serious snowstorms every year. there are often snow days. we still make fun of people south of virginia when we hear about how they drive and overreact to snow. one of my best friends in college grew up in alaska and had no idea what a snow day was when we got 3 feet of snow and school was closed. he didn't understand the concept at all. now i think of him whenever this divide is brought up between people who are used to snow and not.

Most of it is complete overreaction but I can also see school officials point of view.

The bottom line is that people down here simply don't encounter it enough and administrators would rather have a snow day, go back to school the next day, than have some bus driver not used to driving in snow plow into another car with a busload of kids.

Everything else outside of that factor is simply people overreacting.

one of my coworkers lives in indiana. her brother totalled his truck on saturday when he hit some ice and went into a ditch. he borrowed her car today and fucked her car up this morning due to more ice.

it's not only people in the south who have problems with ice/snow/etc apparently.
