oh you people are killing me.
as you may know, i am usually the first one to post pics of my pup.

My darling casey (oh god I am crying again) is going to be put down sometime this week. I have asked my parents not to tell me when but I am heartbroken to a huge degree, I have been crying a lot.

I have had this dog since I was 11 (I am 26) and he is so much more than a dog to my entire family. apparently my mom has been sleeping on the floor with him...

Mlle XIX, I'm so sorry to hear this. My thoughts are with you. While I know nothing can ever replace the companionship of a dog (esp. yours, since he's been around since you were a kid), just cherish those memories forever, and before you know it, whenever you get a new pup in your life, I'll bet Casey will show his personality when you least expect it!

(btw, as the owner of 11- and 9-year-old dogs, I dread this day, and I know it will be sooner rather than later)

My parents have since adopted him and an apartment in the city isn't any place for a hound.

hey, i've always liked this kind of dog. what are they called?

They are Bernese Mountain Dogs. They're awesome family dogs, great with kids. These 2 are about 30% bigger now---I don't have a recent photo available.

I say this every time I look at your beautiful Bernese doggies, I will own one some day.

edit: This is Sophie. Sometimes, when she sleeps, she looks funny.

thanks, I am a mess. it is really really hard. let's put it this way, I have 2 pics of him at my desk at work, but none of anyone else. This is the dog I used to sleep with on the floor when I was 11, ya know? I have been dreading this for years, but, damn, he's almost 15, that's amazing!

at this point I am totally not ready for another dog. but I hope what you say is true!
actually, this loss is really devistating, I fear getting another dog because this is so bad. but then again, the sadness doesn't even touch on all the joy he's brought.

I am so sorry to hear this. I know how much it must hurt. Their lives are so comparitively short, but I'm sure you were both great friends to each other and I know if Casey is ill you wouldn't want him to suffer.

Stacey, post a photo of Sophie when she was a puppy. I saved that photo when you sent it long ago and fell in love with her.

I love ALL your doggies!!

And Mlle...gosh, I completely know what you're going through. My heart goes out to you. Always know that your pup will forever live in your heart.

We researched several breeders online. Just google BMD's and you'll find many to choose from. Ours are from Iowa

My sisters dog Louie. He's almost my dog since he sleeps over 2 nights a week on average. Never liked a small dog until she got him

My first born with our German Shepherd, Miranda. This pic's a couple of years old, but still pretty cute:

Fuck, you guys, get some real dogs, will you? Aside from dnorwood, this is a poor showing at best.

I (family dog) had two boxers but one was put down two years ago and the other is living with my parents in Wisconsin. He's 110 pound beast, but still cute. No cropped ears for me.
I love boxers. I think they're a great breed of dog and people tend to be scrared of them despite them being huge softies (even with their great strength).

My Dad had boxers growing up. They are super dogs. Great with kids, protective of the family and completely devoted.

I have a friend who has always had boxers. She's lost two of them to cancer though. She always crops their ears, but I prefer the goofy floppy ear look on boxers. Her dogs always had flatulence problems too, but then again, so does my lab.

Our girl (Cleo) had severe seizures and had to put down. My Mom and Dad were pretty shook up, i thankfully lived far away and found out after the fact. It was tough because i remember picking her up from the breeder in England when i was in 8th grade and carrying her in my lap the whole way home. My sister had already moved away so Cleo spent a lot of time with me.

She was great.

Cesar is our big dumb softie. My parents got him during my last few years of college so i didn't spend with as much time with him.

I plan on getting Boxers of my own once i can fence my yard and make sure they're not home alone too much.

Cute, yes, but I see those sharp little claws out there, and thank my lucky stars my dogs have grown up now. Nothing beats puppy breath, but I could do without the razor-sharp teeth and needle-like claws. ;)
