For the first time, sociologists have mapped the romantic and sexual relationships of an entire high school over 18 months, providing evidence that these adolescent networks may be structured differently than researchers previously thought.

The results showed that, unlike many adult networks, there was no core group of very sexually active people at the high school. There were not many students who had many partners and who provided links to the rest of the community.

Instead, the romantic and sexual network at the school created long chains of connections that spread out through the community, with few places where students directly shared the same partners with each other. But they were indirectly linked, partner to partner to partner. One component of the network linked 288 students -- more than half of those who were romantically active at the school -- in one long chain.

Yeah, I shuddered, openly reminded of McIntosh/PTC.

Also, if it were McIntosh during my years, my homeboy Frank would be linked to EVERY GIRL on there. Never seen anything like it.

hmm, didn't remind me of McIntosh even though sexual activity was pretty strong there. I worked in Conyers for a few years after college, and had some of these highschool kids working for me. It's weird-- it was the same situation as us (parents fairly well off, small town, not much for kids to do), but for whatever reason, there were no boundaries. I mean, I know kids will always be sexually active, but I think this is when America passed that line of what was acceptable with the teens-- girls sleeping with multiple guys in one night, blow jobs being less intimate than a kiss on the lips, etc. I mean, that just didn't happen when I was in highschool (or at least not as ubiquitously as it did in this particular situation).

Most of these kids were my age or a bit younger. The rampant fucking and predilection for rap music, no parents, open drug abuse, pretty well describes McIntosh in my years and the most of my younger friends.

I would have been a sophmore in highschool about this time. To my knowledge, nothing even close to this type of shit happened in my highschool...at least not in my class.

This shit is cracking me up.

I do remember that outbreak that happened in Conyers. As I recall they were openly having orgy sex parties where there were numerous people having sex in the same room. They would arrange for new people to come to an arranged house to do it again the next weekend. Pretty scary considering the girls and boys all ranged from 13 to 16.
