Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but you try to search on "The National."

i saw them twice last year and they played a handful of new songs at both shows. one was especially awesome. the others didn't really come off so well, but i'm sure they will be fixed up in the studio. also, a lot of it was more laid-back. none of the new songs i heard were anything like a "mr november" or "abel."

sometimes it's beneficial to check a band's official website:

from sigur-ros.co.uk:

new album in the works
13 January 2007

sigur rós have begun recording their new album and expect to finish it later this year. in an interview with fréttablaðið newspaper, georg says it remains to be seen whether the band will be taking a totally new direction on the album. “we have finished recording a few songs but some more things need to be done. we don’t know exactly where the album is heading yet. we are really just experimenting at this stage. some of the songs we recorded are old songs which we had written a while ago, unreleased material which we never got a chance to finish. we decided it was time they were recorded.” georg says there is a possibility the album will be released this year but nothing is confirmed at this point.

but seriously, this thread is about the national.

Cream.
I have decided that Alligator may be one of my all time favorites. I listen to something from that album almost every day.
If they play chapel hill again, Tommy's buying.

I'm telling you, with all the late spring early summer albums I'm betting on a Wilco/Spoon/National bill.

totally agree on Alligator. One of the best 3 or 4 albums of the decade in my book.

Deal. I want to see this band headline badly.

At first I thought you people had cotton balls in your ears. But eventually Alligator creeped it's way into my graces and I listened to this year alot. Looking forward to this.

I'm making note to load Alligator on the ipod for tomorrow because it's one album that I didn't hate but just never really approached the levels of appreciation that some folks around here have. So I'll give it another try. I've got to listen to something during my work safety course tomorrow.

Puts a damper on my excitement.

Though, new National, KoL and Ike Reilly gots me a 2007 obner for music.

we're out looking for astronauts... looking for astronauts...

or you could be singing "my mind's not right! my mind's not right!" over and over while enduring coworkers looking at you quizzically all day. i wouldn't know anyone who that's happened to, though...

Or "Abel c'mon...gimme the keys back" in a low and guttural voice, driving your wife insane. This album is like a virus..it gets inside you and infects you from the inside out. Queuing it up right now.
