Rock' N' Roll Soldiers - Anthem

I know nothing bout these dudes other than they have a very catchy single and a very terrible name. This could easily sell ipods or Nike ipod nanos. If this thing ever blows up I'm sure I'll disown these comments and make fun of them.

I heard Jerk It Out long before it was an ipod commerical. Still didn't like the album.

Never really listened to the Shout Out Louds.

As far as Swedes goes, I'm steadfast in my support for the Hives - Tyrannus Rex as being underrated.

Honestly, I don't even remember the other songs anymore. Just remember not liking it.

Agreed. Gimme some Hellacopters and Gluecifer* while you're at it.

That first album was pretty good....Paper Tiger on the other hand was mostly awful.

The Rock N'Roll Soldiers are a Portland band that used to get played (maybe they still do) on KEXP quite a bit. I bought their EP's release a couple years ago. Anthem is the best song by far .... i don't remember really liking the rest of the album/collection. I'll have to go dig it out.

I like the first single from it, but mostly because of the hand claps. Can't go wrong when clapping or cowbell is involved.

I thought Howl Howl Gaff Gaff was a great album. Pretty sure it made my top 10 for 2005.

Maybe mostly awful was a bit strong...it wasn't very memorable. 39 Minutes had a couple standout tracks but this one seems to be missing that.

That "Jerk It Out" song really should only be about 20 seconds long. Shit move including it on everything they release. It didn't meld with that last record at all.

Also, what's that song in that current Cadillac commercial?

I like it. The singer has kind of a lower register Iggy Pop kind of voice and the song has that buzzy droning keyboard effect kind of like Interpol.

----> edit: a Google search turned up this..

The Cadillac commercial song is “Punkrocker” by Teddybears (featuring Iggy Pop).
