Your man Chris Matthews is destroying her little tape announcement.

This has Mondale written all over it.

Also, Edmund Hilary announced an exploratory group to Antarctica today.

He's 87.

Between her and Obama, the republicans better enjoy their last 2 years.

She's gotta know that she isn't electable, or have dirty pictures of EVERYONE. I think that she's just doing this to remain on the national stage for the next two years and get some of her pets into the democratic platform.

Yeah. Also, she might be a potential Obama administration Secretary Of State.

No matter I might want, I doubt either will win.

The common criticism I hear of HRC is that she is "The Laundry Lady," she has a long list of things she wants to accomplish, but has no passion about any of them.

I also think that Obama right now is a cypher. Everyone thinks he thinks like them. He has an uncanny ability to disarm uber conservatives and uber liberals, if he can turn his natural ability into a well funded and message-disciplined campaign, I think he can catch lightning in a bottle. With Warner out, he has my primary vote all but sewed up.

He's right. Obama might avoid the race factor somehow and win it, but a Hillary nomination basically means the Dems win all the liberal states by 20+ points and lose all the toss ups by about ten, especially if anyone like McCain or Giuliani is involved.
I will be more shocked than I was when Clinton pulled it out in 92, if either Obama or Hillary win the presidency.

Having contributed to her before, I got the announcement email addressed to "Matthew"... I am, of course, Harry. Somehow I think this is indicative... mechanistic, not human.

I do think people underestimate her, however, and the resources (human, financial) behind her. She could win both nomination and presidency.

Obama a cypher? Hardly... his greatest quality (as far as wonkishness position specificity) is an ability to display a tranparency in his thinking while talking about an issue. That's what's refreshing... and it will be hard to maintain. But, it is his personhood, not clearly articulated positions on issues, that is so appealing... really in the same way McCain (or Poppa Bear Clinton) used to be appealing.

i think she totally lacks warmth and authenticity. and she's pretty much the last person in the world who could win over right-leaning independents. still, i think pretty much any democratic nominee has a good shot at winning in 2008. all they have to do is hold the kerry states and pick up ohio. considering how bad the republicans got their asses handed to them in the buckeye state last year, that is very much within the realm of possibility.

A reason to not vote Hillary: If she gets in and serves two terms, it will mean 28 years of Bush-Clinton (from Dadya to Bubba to Dubya to HR). Then if Jeb gets in after that....

We should probably put a stop to it unless maybe one of the Bush daughters is running.

Eliminate the National Debt by making the White House/Camp David into one of those "web-cam houses" where everything in on film & viewable for a monthly service-charge (19.99$, say).

Just think, PRESIDENTIAL UPSKIRTS.

So who is the front runner for the Democrats? Shrillary Rodham Rodham? What about that ambulance-chasing lawyer, Edwards? Or that slick talking, empty-suit, Obama? Of course, with Obama, it's style over substance.

And which prominent Republican is not a slick-talking empty suit?

Geezub, all of the congress is slick-talking except maybe Rep. Mike Michaud, who's incapable of sounding like anything other than a Maine millworker.
