You damn right girl.

I give this a "Men On Film" style two snaps and a bag of chips...

I drink before we leave at the hotel.
I drink during the party.
I drink after the party at the hotel.

If I could just snap an IV of beer into my veins, that'd be hot. Kidding! But you get the point.

Kidding? A chick with a beer IV is one of the hottest things I can think of - especially if she had a dripbag built for two...

That's me, Chad. I learned my lesson from last year -- lotsa beer + heat = very cheap date and tired Tania.

No doubt - I nearly passed out from the heat early on Saturday (missed Beck in the tent because of it) and all I drank from then on was water. Us cold-weather staters can't hang with the likes of Dri, apparently. But then again, I suppose few can.

Yeah, I know it sounds lame. But these are good friends, afterall. And the thing is, I've already seen a good lot of the Coachella bands (the headliners and mid-carders anyway) and when I add up the tickets, airfare, hotel, rental car, food and all the recreational money I'd spend it just seems a bit too extravagant to justify. The wedding was just the thing that kept me from rationalizing going. SXSW is a much more tenable option at this point since I think my next move is going to be to Austin. If only the paper there weren't so crappy.

Oh trust me, you didn't miss much of Beck's set except a sea of people trying to push their way into the tent.... I practically passed out in the midst of the crowd from heat & claustrophobia, so we decided to go check out another act.

But even I don't drink during the day... I wait until about 4 or 5pm, then hit up the main beer garden and chill there while checking out the main stage.

I'm still stuck on my IV + beer idea though. :rawk:

Besides you don't have to be in line until 11a or so, right? I'm not sure how the whole getting-in thing works at Coachella, but pre-drinking will work, won't it?
I'm sorry, but I'm probably basing my going ability on the lines/drinking options...Trust me, my house with the mission to finish a couple of 30 packs might be a much cheaper (and possibly more fun) option...

I couldn't go to an all day festival and not drink, but that damn heat would be a bitch. I guess you could always go the powerful psychedlics route. (X, A, PCP, Sherm or whatever floats yr. boat.) End up as part of some kind of neo-Manson family or just play crazy shit like QOTSA.

Let me tell you what we usually do. My crew gets rooms around the area... we generally get there around 1-2pmish. The lines last year went by FAST. You can also tailgate in the parking lot. Then when you get in, first mission is get your wristband for the beer garden (the later it gets, the longer the line gets for id checks). Then there's 3 beer gardens around for you to go get your drink on.

I usually wait til about 4-5pmish to start drinking. And then I'm good to go.

But, if you're driving into town to get to Coachella (from LA) on the day of, traffic's going to be a bitch. So I'm not sure how long that will take.

I would def. get a room, though I'm not sure how nearby you're talking about. "wristband line" sounds pretty bad, though...
Being halfway to incoherence is a job half done, and one worth doing right.

Well, the only thing that sucks is that you have to drink in the beer gardens. Just get your wristband at the id check (which is in front of every beer garden) the minute you get in and you're set. That way you don't have to worry about it later.

Prioritize my dear, prioritize.

Plus I bet all the rooms are booked within a few mile from the venue, so you should start looking now. We had our rooms booked a couple of months ago (my friends mean business when it comes to Coachella lol)

I've got a friend who's already booked a room I could crash in/split. She's pretty serious about Coachella too. Scratch (makes cat pawing motion with right hand)

Thanks for the advice, though.... I'll see if I blow all of my Coachella money buying drinks at the Mountain Goats show next week. And, yes, it could happen...

bitterbuffalo and I drove from Vegas to Coachella last year, and if I remember accurately, it took about 3.5-4hrs---I had been up all night gambling and drinking, so my memory may be a bit fuzzy. Very easy drive, though.
