i agree with this.

jailbait attention loving stuff...it would probably work in america if it was called "baby hit me one more time"

i still can't get over that double entendre

Didn't Sonic Youth sign them? For the hell of it I'm going to watch them at Lollapalooza.

Thurston did to Ecstatic Peace.

i think the thing i resent most about this band is how they're playing the cred game so hard and its so patently a sham. It makes me incredibly sad to see Thurston sucked into it.

Those kids were being courted by tons of majors and from the stories i've heard in every case the band insisted on the first record being worked by a smaller label so they could build cred and then when a sales level was reached they would be sucked up to the big leagues. upstreamed, as it were.

then to see that little tart in training actually diss some of the labels that were trying to sign them as pseudo-indies (i'm referring to the pitchfork interview here) and then sign with Ecstatic Peace which is clearly an arm of Universal REcords, is totally retarded.

The record is kinda cute and fun and I can totally see why someone might like it, but I really hate watching this little corner of indie culture so easily manipulated by a bunch of kids with highpowered music biz parents.

So I haven't heard the whole album. I love the EP, and it seems like the perfect length for what they've got so far?! I don't know. I'll have to get the album. I listen to the EP a lot, and seem to get satisfied after the five songs.

Nice video for Bicycle Bicycle

Well, my take on them is this--and mostly I'm basing this on an interview with Thurston I read. It sounds like while he really likes BYOP, but he is using them, as well in order to get more money filtered into the label, mostly into distro deals.

Right, I must have missed the brilliance of:

And every three seconds when a baby is born
We'll imagine their faces
In the face that they have won

Look us in the centre of our eyes
And tell me when I'm going to die"

shouted in an oh-so-angry-grrl voice.

Honestly, I feel thats the wost song on the album.

I've seen BYOP twice live now, and though they're not the best act I've seen; they were still fun to see, and I really enjoy their tracks.
