This would an awesome Chuck Klosterman imitation if it made some shitty allegory to hair metal, current pro baseball, pro basketball up to and including the 1996 finals, his personal life, or how different he is from the rest of the staff writers at whatever publication he's in at the moment.

This album has nothing to do with dogs or their problems. Nearest I can tell, there isn't mention of dogs anywhere.

This sounds like something white people listen to on their way to pick up frozen yogurt. Actually, this album should be called "mini-golf and frozen yogurt".

Chuck Klosterman invented pointing out the obvious and making fun of white people? Then isn't he ripping off Richard Pryor? I think you're confusing smartass hack writing with "chuck klosterman imitation". Oh wait, Chuck Klosterman is smartass hack writing. I still didn't compare it to Pat Ewing's finals season at Georgetown.

I think that would be Simmons?

Calm down, hombre. Those 2 quotes just stuck out to me as particularly Chuck-esque. Its not even really an insult, just a wry observation ;)

I definitely need to hear that Thermals album

Is there any way to see which album was on who's list when doing these posts (and where), or is that too much of a pain in the ass?
I think it'd be interesting.

And I second this request

So you want to know where each album was on the respective blurb-writer's list?

I suppose I could do that.

Of course, neither tentoze, Sleepytime Tea, or Sketch had the album they wrote about on their lists.

I don't have the other posters' lists handy to find of out what their rankings were of those albums, except that Silversun Pickups was FT's #22 of 78. I think The Thermals might have been BIG DICK McGEE's #2. Can't remember where The Format was on paladisiac's list, but I think it was outside his top 10. I wasn't necessarily able to assign people their favorite/least favorite albums.

i didn't vote, but the Format would not have been on my list. The Thermals would've been in my top 3, as well as the other album I reviewed.

I considered writing a negative blurb for that Thermals album myself. I haven't really listened to it much, though, and I was afraid I might come around to it if I did.

I was thinking more along the lines of listing each poster who had each album in their top 20, eg The Thermals (Sketch, ...., ...), but that's probably going to be a pain in the arse for you to do.

Especially for the top few albums

It might be better for the ones who are curious about it to just search for the artists or album title and look for the individual year-end list topics. This will cover most but not all.

I'm not even sure Drinky has access to all the individual lists.

Yeah. I would have to search for them just like everyone else, and even then I might not have the final list that someone actually submitted for the poll.

It'd also be nice if Drinky could brew us up some coffee and toast our bagels.

I want some smoked salmon schmear on mine.

Also, I like my coffee BOLD, with cream and sugar.

Make it happen Drinky, I am hungry and tired.

"For me, the songs are all at least 2 minutes longer than they have any need to be, are lyrically uninteresting, and there’s a general lack of focus in any of it"

Agreed.
