The Stiff Records Box!!!

Contains classic singles from:
Nick Lowe
Graham Parker
Ian Dury
Madness
Kirsty MacColl
Desmond Dekker
The Damned
Tenpole Tudor
Devo
Elvis Costello
The Pogues
Tracey Ullman (yes, that Tracey Ullman!)
and dozens more that you've never heard of, but need to hear.

It drags a little at the last half of the 4th disc, but the other 3.5 discs are insanely great.

One Kiss Can Lead To Another: Girl Group Sounds Lost & Found

Rhino is pleased to present the first-ever boxed set to celebrate the girl groups of the 1960s. From soul and garage to Brill Building pop and countrypolitan, every possible girl group style is represented on these four discs, which gather 120 remastered tracks from 107 artists—The Supremes, The Ronettes, Dusty Springfield, Carole King, Petula Clark, plus a slew of artists less known but every bit as vital. Landmark packaging replicates a mod-style hat box and includes a diary-style booklet with essays, rare photos, track notes, and artist quotes.

Selection # 74645

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!!! I totally meant to ask for this for Christmas. Totally forgot. Maybe I can get in a last minute addition to my list.

bumpski bump bump...my birthday is coming up and I think I'm going to have my sister buy me a box set as a gift. I'm leaning towards

Rhino Rockin' Bones or that girl group one mentioned earlier.

Anyone want to mention something not yet mentioned in this thread though for me to consider. I'm actually not that interested in that recent Rhino Atlantic Soul box, but am interested in some suggestions.

you can't go wrong with any of the Nuggets compilations.

the VU one is pretty great, but there have also been some great special editions of the albums on their own (the fully loaded edition of Loaded especially)...also the first disc of demos is interestsing, but difficult to get through more than once.

Clash on Broadway is essential
There is a great Jam box set

Have you heard or do you have the Goodbye Babylon box?

I don't actually have it, myself, (thinking about asking for it this year), but I think that's something you'd like.

Pretty expensive for a 5 or 6 disc set, but I get the impression that it's worth it.

I never shell out for box sets or think to ask for them as gifts, but it'd be nice to have Nuggets and a few other things.

not really a box set per se, but multi-disc set.

I had to look up what you were talking about. a link for others also not familiar with it. It does look interesting but expensive. I'm looking for something a little cheaper since I'm asking for it as a gift from my sister though.

the new Bob Wills "Legends Of Country Music" is pretty much the best thing to ever exist.

I think that the next box I need to get is
Elvis Presley - The Sun Sessions

I've had "Little Sister" flying around my head all morning and it made me think of just how amazing that early EP stuff really was. Yeah. I need this. Damn.

And "Three Bells in a Row" and "Throwing My Baby Out With the Bathwater". (No "Who Killed Bambi", though.)

This is incredible. I just added it to my wishlist.

They put out great sets. The one they put out for Joe Brussard's label was incredible.
