If I had voted it probably would have considering it was my #1 or #2 (with BTS)

Band of Horses was outside my Top 20, but I think its a pretty awesome record.

I need to get that BOH album. I've got Funeral and another single called "Bass Song (Demo)" which I actually like a little better.

i guess because those were in every other top-10 in america and, therefore, this board is not unique. it's the consensus we come to every year. i don't know why people are surprised. two of those were on my list and i haven't heard two others.

Except that it was in the first day wrap up, like #19?

you and me, brother. the thermals is so far the only thing i voted on that's been included. and i only expect one or two more, tops.

So who's missing out? Those that don't know the Top 20 (thus far), or those who didn't hear the rest?

Yes. But the other two didn't intrigue me enough to take a listen. I should check out DBT at some point, though, considering how much they're pimped on this board.

Is there anyone aside from me who actually rated the BoH album?

There's only one answer to that question, because there's no proof that there's anyone who "didn't hear the rest". Ergo, you're missing out. Quo erat demonstrandum, semper ubi sub ubi.

I really like A Blessing And A Curse, but it's a bit mired in mid-tempo rockers. There isn't one song on it that the band could use as the last song of a set, something that'd drive the crowd into a frenzy and start the bottles banging for an encore. Still, "Gravity's Gone" and "Daylight" are the closest the DBTs have ever come to a pop song, and they hit 'em without selling their souls. It'll do, pig.

I downloaded Band of Horses, but I was outta there almost as soon as the dude started singing. I really don't need any more reckids in my collection that I won't listen to by next year.

And I wish I could get into Built to Spill. Every description of the music makes it sound like something I'd dig, but then I sit down to listen and Doug Martsch's voice stabs me right in the ear. It's like putting a tortured alley cat on helium. Neil Young has a lot to answer for.

No that wasn't what i was saying....I just think the list sucks and I wasn't only thinking the top 10. Its not so much that the albums suck, but the list does. I wasn't under any illusion that I'd have more than 2 or 3 things in common with my top 20, but this is a deep and great year. I expected to like more and certainly to be ambivalent about less.

If I had to rank the top 21 (assuming my top 6 are correct) with silence thrown in as a 22nd option, I'd probably rank as follows:

1. DBT's
2. Cat Power
3. BTS (A Distant 3rd)
4. The Hold Steady (An even more distant 4th)
5. Silence tied with almost everything else
20. The Liars
21. TVOTR

EDIT: I'm beginning to think this is all bloor's fault

S&P Option report:

1. DBT's - long the stock - going long on calls as well - they're going places.
2. Cat Power - seller - long puts as well - an overwrought mess
3. BTS (A Distant 3rd) - seller
4. The Hold Steady (An even more distant 4th) - buyer
5. Silence tied with almost everything else - would've been my #1 buy of the year
20. The Liars - um, no thanks.
21. TVOTR- shorting the stock

I get that impression as well. I actually have heard an earlier song of theres, but was uninspired to delve deeper. I'll get around to it one of these days.
