Fopp

Fopp is really the only record store (chain or otherwise) in the UK that I've found worthwhile. Obviously I haven't been everywhere though. Love Fopp's 5 pound CD selection. I wasnt impressed with Berwick St. in London. Pretty much anything over 5 pounds becomes not worth it for Americans since most of the same CDs are way cheaper here.

You ever been to that record store up around Tulane/Loyola in NO? It was either called Mushroom or it had a big ass Mushroom painted on the outside or something. All I remember is a Mushroom, it was a pretty cool joint, and it was close to The Boot.

I've all but given up buying new music locally. I'll still buy used from Zia, but even that's dwindled off quite a bit just due to time constraints and lack of stock because they only seem to stock really popular stuff lately. Most of my buying is from Amazon (both new and used) and Half, plus some directly from artists' sites (like Robert Fripp's DGMLive.com or Tim Berne's Screwgun.com) when they have things I want.

have you tried Stinkweeds? they have two locations; Tempe & midtown PHX

Tempe's gone, unfortunately, they closed that one last summer. I haven't been to the downtown location because I never get anywhere near there. Good store, but always managed to have exactly what I already owned, somehow, or they were just slightly outside of my interests. I always found something to buy every time I stopped in because I wanted to make sure I did something to support them, but, ultimately, I've just found that local music stores, ALL of them, just don't seem to cater to my decidedly eclectic tastes in music.

Bob's molo nickname for that art freak chick who used to post here, Cracka.

Been in there many a times but not recently. Someone told me it closed down and was grocery store now.

We have a couple of great music stores in Indy. I love browsing at either one of them.

is billy's still open? i went in there a few years ago and loved it. it's on my radar should i ever go back to indy.

I seem to remember hearing that Billy's closed a couple of years ago. It was never really convenient for me so I never stopped by. Now I'm sorry that I didn't. Luna and Indy CD & Vinyl are the two I'm talking about. There is also a great store that's almost exclusively vinyl called Missing Link Records which is cool but I don't buy much vinyl so I rarely shop there.

That's because like a good 85-90% of her artwork features boobs with chompers at the nipple. Apparently, her destiny is to provide the artwork for the waiting room and office of Tim Whatley, D.D.S.

Not molo at all.

Wonder when the Sam Goody's will be converted to a FYE, or closed. Seems like the going rate with Transworld Ent.
