If you were to take a consensus, especially of people on this board, it would probably be pretty unanimous that the emo movement is the worst thing to happen to music since rap-rock's heyday.

But, like with any genre or label, it can't all be all bad. And, while I haven't sought out any new emo albums or artists since I was sixteen, there are a handful of albums that survived my purging of the genre from my collection and that I can still listen to and dig.

Sunny Day Real Estate - Diary

The Get Up Kids - Something To Write Home About

Saves The Day - Through Being Cool

Alkaline Trio - Goddamnit

And, total guilty pleasure on my part:

Dashboard Confessional - The Places You Have Come To Fear The Most

I'm a fan of anything by the Get Up Kids.

But ATDI is a good one too. Relationship Of Command should've made my first post.

it's hard for me to tell whether these are nostalgic picks, or if they're actually pretty decent... but...

Kerith Ravine - The Streams of Jettison

Dear Ephesus - The Absent Sounds Of Me

Yeah, I was wondering what Dischord bands from the 90's actually fit this category
Does Embrace featuring Ian Mackaye fit?
What about Lungfish or Smart went Crazy?

I just listened to Lungfish's Talking songs for Walking for the first time in a while, and I think I liked it more than I had.

i occasionally enjoy bands like saves the day and promise ring and jimmy eat world but they were about 85% pop/rock/punk and about 15% emo from a musical perspective.

i don't like anything remotely approaching screemo.

The overall strategy we have is, if we don't hate it, we say "but that's not emo."

Which keeps all that emo shit in a tidy package out on the street, out of the Lil' Obner Shop, where it can't creep in.

Emo's like milfoil. You bring any of it in on the bottom of your boat and it chokes the whole lake.

I have no idea what "emo" means this week (especially after seeing some of the choices above), so I'll just post a few rock albums from the 90s that I enjoy...

Karate - In Place of Real Insight
Kerosene 454 - At Zero
764-Hero - Get Here and Stay

Jesus Christ... I liked you better when you were showing love for Semisonic. Assuming it wasn't ironic.

So, does your new girl like to writhe arhythmically -- I mean, uh, dance -- to Saves the Day, too?

(Somehow, though, I find it hard to believe that your first girl, Kathy "with a K" Kegel, ever danced to anything. Stupid, fat-assed, Metallica-loving douchenozzle.)
