"I am Liberal. Hear me roar".
Amazing, the vitriolic liberals in rock 'n roll want to sing about how "evil" the USA is, but when it comes to debating their warped views in a music forum, that's off limits. Sounds like people want have it one way. Commentary about their dissent to GW Bush (i.e. America) is shunned. Double standards.

They need to record a version of "Proud to be an American" in Spanish, just so Ol' Lee will have an heart-attack & die. It will be the same as F. Scott Key's heirs dying when that reggaeton version of the Nat'l Anthem came out.

I'm pretty sure band members have as much right to talk politics as non-band members. They're also free to look silly or not. And we're free to appreciate them or not.

But when band members do it, it can come off as exploiting your sphere of influence. That's how Damien Jurado sees it when Conor Oberst spouts off on things. Then again, if Jurado did that he might alienate a lot of his fanbase.

I love listening to Ted Nugent talk politics. It makes want to hear Nancy Pelosi talk about bow hunting with Tim Russert.

Yr free to attempt it. But my gay state trooper look masks a big ol' galloot. Like that designer on Sell This House.
