Was the show any good? Was the baby there?

I was already at the club! Besides, I thought you were going to someone's birthday party beforehand.

No, no baby, no J. Robbins either.

Damn, I was hoping you'd forgotten all about the birthday party. No, I didn't go to that, either.

And no J. Robbins? Isn't that kind of shitty since it was a benefit for his kid?

Well, if he was there, he didn't come up on stage or anything. Besides, he has a child to take care of! But Fred Armisen's ex-wife was there.

WROOONG!

So so wrong.

Came in to find out about a 20-car/4-semi pileup on one of the expressways due to a whiteout.

Then, got word of a kid shot in the back with a shotgun at a party in one of the area's tonier suburbs

then, was told to try to find out more about a 50-person brawl that took place last night at the local shopping mall.

I've been going non-stop since I got here.
I'm in hell.

That pic doesn't really give the best angle. It's really closer to an SUV.

i had a great/awful weekend.

went to nyc on thursday and hung out with my friend carol and then met up with opa for dinner/drinks and later with haq and threw peanut shells at each other.

friday - drove back up to boston on with my friend and picked up another friend from the airport then went shopping for awful sweaters for the bad sweater party we were having on saturday. got home, washed sweaters and went out to eat and get drunk. came home at 2am to water leaking from the kitchen ceiling. a pipe had come loose in the bathroom upstairs and was pouring water down in the wall. tried to call a plumber but couldn't get anyone out til the morning so i gave up and just headed to bed w/o turning the water off.

saturday - woke up at 7:30am, late for work and finally figured out how to turn the water off though i had to wade through a foot of ice cold water to do so. went into work for a few hours drunk out of my mind and the came home to find the house relatively back to normal.
sat around most of the day and then went and got seafood and bought supplies for the party. it was a pretty fun party though i wasn't nearly as drunk as i wanted to be thanks to the seafood not sitting well with me and puking a couple of times. powered through that and had a few more drinks and it all ended around 4am or so.

sunday - slept in and watched movies, one of my friends made some brunch and we watched extras. then i drove my harem to chinatown so they could take the bus back to nyc.

...What happened to the foot of water in your place, Shiv?! You know everything that got wet is gonna mildew, right? You probably have the Hanta Virus.

sweet and horrible.

friday- show at a sushi bar. 2 dollar mixed drinks, dollar pbrs. i find out my friend works there after i pay 5 bucks for two cups of whiskey. i get free beer all night after that, so i chug down miller lites, yuenglings, and pbrs and find myself puking in their basement and blacking out soon thereafter.

i didn't drink again this weekend.

saturday- show at my friends house. it was great fun. killed a large order of cheese sticks while watching windy city heat afterwards. watched a funkadelic dvd three times in a row.

sunday- worked, ate dinner with friends, then watched 5 episodes of the sopranos.

it was a great weekend.

Oddly enough, the city that Pabst fucked like a Tijuana whore, has Pabst available in pretty much any hipster bar on the East-side/in Riverwest.

I find this untenable (save for at Stonefly (formerly Onopa), which is now owned by lesbians & apparently is cultivating a thug rather than fey-indie-boy rep (lots of hip-hop shows there, including Masta Killa a few weeks back); I don't quibble with the sisters).

But, whatever. Put-on leftism/progressivism & drinking PBR would seem to go hand-in-glove.

it happens very often here. it's the cheap beer of choice. i used to hate it but i do love it now.

i just didn't really have a taste for beer when i started drinking. there is a great restaurant a few miles from where i live that has three pages of beers of the world. when i get a higher paying job i'm going to go there and try as many as i can.
i drank some dutch strawberry beer there that was delicious, and some dark german beer but i'm not sure of what it was called. that was a great day. i spent 7 dollars and got a volcano, which was incredible, huge, and lit on fire. their food is great too.

Athens bars used to have dollar pbr tallboys for all the hipsters back in my day (he said with a faux-crotchety-old-man voice). That and the local brewhouse had dollar pints of their stuff on Tuesdays.

Get outta class at 3, head downtown, suck back three of those, stumble home, nap, go out again. Good shit.

Now tallboys are $1.75. At Taco Stand, anyway. And the local brewhouse has upped it to $2 a pint on Tuesdays (and at happy hour). But, things are a bit different when you are friends with all the bartenders...

Things were different then, too, when you knew the bartenders. Man I miss that.

Great Scott's a nice little dive. I dug that place. So-so sound, a bigass pole just off center where the crowd stands, and one of the kids onstage was wearing a Members Only jacket OVER his cardigan! I like character.
