I thought you were considering moving to Austin. Lots of mailboxes to fill, buddy! And probably an easier transfer to pull off than Newman's ill-fated NYC-to-Maui attempt.

I like Austin but don't think I could take the heat during the summer.

Unlike the North, everywhere in the south has a/c. EVERYWHERE. That's because if they didn't have it on every bus and building everywhere, the oldest 10% of the population would die within weeks.

That said, I feel ya. I don't miss Atlanta summers.

what sucks is that 6 months of the year it looks so nice outside..you want to go outside and do something fun...but then you step outside and are like...shit...bad idea. back inside.

The "Hot Blanket" effect. You open the door, and an invisible, steaming hot blanket slaps you in the face.

I'm told August is the worst, but I've been there in July and September and did not suffer in any way. Yeah, it's hot. But it ain't like Arizona.
Either way, hot sounds a helluva lot better than what I'm looking at now...

I was 13 before we had A/C in the house where I grew up in N. FL. Don't remember being miserably hot as a kid either. I crank that bitch now, though.

Well, SHIT! This FUCKING SUCKS!!! I guess this is going to end up shriveling down into yet another minimally-attended Obner event. Even jagged's not making it this year.

I give the fuck up.

Well, how about this... I'll come to SXSW if you either A. find me a cheap place to live (and pay my security deposit) or B. start paying the other half of the rent in my current apartment.

Not everyone has disposable income.

I realize there are extenuating circumstances that prevent a person here and there from going, but it just seems like nobody ever cancels out of Coachella or Bonarroo or CMJ, or any of the other similar events. yet, every year tons of people say they'll come to SXSW, and it ends up just being shiv and us Texas dorks.

The really frustrating aspect in all this is that those total loser Anime boards with people so inept they can barely make it out of their house still manage to pack 'em in whenever they stage similar events. I probably just care more about Obner than I should.

Uh, excuse me, but I happened to be there last year.

Look, lil' Bob, I realize this is your "I Finally Get To Hang Out With My Pals" event, but some of us spend a lot of money to attend this event. Hopefully, you kids will be able to make it to some of the gigs I'll be at. :rawk:

We're still gonna try and squeeze in a Friday or Saturday breakfast, right? Don't pull your love out on me, baby.

And this would be a problem?

My main problem is that businesses turn up the A/C too high in the summer and the heat too high in the winter--its internal climatic shock everytime you go in somewhere.

Do you remember last year?

"Sausagefest" is about the last word I'd use to describe Austin.

It gets worse when you go away for a few years, and then come back to visit it. Instant flu.

Gotcha. Just think of us as a band of wingmen. Something tells me LooGAR could be the most skilled hookup helper ever. Gregarious and not afraid to make an ass of himself to keep a group's spirits hight, but physically intimidating enough to repel the other vultures.

I'm a glass is half-full kinda guy.

I have always been a good wingman...and won't be looking to score.

I need to have a close conversation with Dr. Bloor about our plans.
