I guess that was the official marker that hardcore was dead and burried. C'mon...show the skinheads on Geraldo next.

And I liked Agnostic Front OK.

I don't agree with everything any band I listen to does. If I had to wait until I found a band that I agreed with politically on everything I'd have a pretty tiny music collection.

And yeah, lots of racists by that time, but people seem to forget things like FEAR, often branded as a bunch of racists, touring with a black guitar player or Bad Brains, kickstarting the New York hardcore scene as an all black band...Pat Smear being biracial...Dead Kennedys having a black drummer. Hardcore was not some big racist clusterfuck. I's not so easy as reading one line out of one song and making assumptions about everything a guy thinks..and especially then extraploating that to everyone around them.

Were Agnostic Front ever on the racist level of someone like Skrewdriver? I never thought they were in that league.

i believe they always denied all racist connections... but they dont seem to have a problem attracting a large following of neo nazis

i saw them play once and they went on some dumb dick rant about how hip-hop/rap culture is "gay" because its too derogatory towards women ...
(again just some disguised rascism) i dont know... all that tough meathead oi nationalist-punk crap. i cant stand it

I don't wanna sound like the poster boy for Agnostic Front here, I mean they were OK, but not fantastic oranything...but saying hip hop is fucked up for its negative portrayal of women is NOT racist. I've actually probably heard more black people than white make that argument.

That was almost on par with some Dragnet episodes. Quality.

Also, in the 70's, if Marjoe Gortner showed up, you knew trouble was a-brewin' for The Man.

Spoken like a guy who's never seen the Burt Reynolds episode of 90210

The entire Dragnet 'Blue Boy' episode used to be up at YouTube. Not sure about Quincy 'Next Stop Nowhere'.

As long as its nostalgia time...

Don't forget when Leif Garrett showed up on Chips, and played at the roller disco in an episode also featuring Willis from Different Strokes, Miss Jane Hathaway and others in an amazing roller disco finale.

I think a lot of the idealogy and promise of the NYC hardcore scene was compromised by violent meatheads, racists, sexists, drunks and junkies who unfortunately flew the banner the highest and often with the loudest voices. But I guess the same can be said for the punk movement in general.

"Pretty soon it'll be mainstream and you'll have to move on to something else."

Turns out you were dead wrong about a lot of those guys, Phil! TRUE 'TIL DEATH!!!!
