1. Fire & Rain-James Taylor
--Seriously, this song makes me cringe in pain every time, in fact, James Taylor is quite possibly the worst popular songwriter ever.

2. Slide-Goo Goo Dolls
--For a time, when i would hang out with my less musically inclined friends, that every time we would go to a bar, there would be some shitty cover band playing this song. and every time, I'd make it a point to yell "don't quit your day jobs assholes!"

3. Nookie-Limp Bizkit
--the song that made me hate high school.

4. Pearl Jam-Elderly Woman Shitting Behind A Counter In A Bucket With An Expression On Her Face That Says, Yeah, This Song Sucks.
--Have you ever seen a group of idiot college guys all break out into song

5. Creed-With Arms Wide Open
--not as wide open as scott stapp's asshole apparently.

6. Grateful Dead-Casey Jones
This is more of a personal hatred...and mainly because I fucking hate the grateful dead.

7. Everclear-any of the ones that go "nuh nuh nuh nuh nuh nuh, yeah"

I'll edit later with more.

I feel like too many people are neglecting the obvious with this thread. I'm not actually sure which Goo Goo Dolls song that is, but I know one of their songs needs to be mentioned here.

But:

There are way worse Pearl Jam songs than this, and really, that song just isn't that bad. I have no desire to ever hear it again, but it doesn't make me angry or nauseous like "Betterman", "Jeremy", or "Daughter". Then again, I think those suffer more from just being overplayed mediocre songs rather than really being terrible.

In general, I think I have a much easier time coming up with songs I really hate from the '90s than any other period. It probably has a lot to do with my age, but most of the songs mentioned from the '70s and '80s just seem really silly to me. They don't make me tense up with hatred and disgust the way "Fly Away" and "Smooth" do.

How about that kid rock song, you know the song with the "bang da bang diggy diggy" or whatever the hell he's saying. That rates up there for me at least; never fails to induce a cringe.

I do like other Kiss songs of that time, yes.
But that one is pretty much unlistenable to me: no melody, awful lyrics, just... UGH.

I'm not ready to rank these just yet, but here's my bottom 10:

"Wild Wild West" - Escape Club
"You Gotta Be" - Des'ree
"Achy Breaky Heart" - Billy Ray Cyrus
"Desert Moon" - Dennis DeYoung
“Don't Cry Out Loud” - Melissa Manchester
“In the Year 2525” - Zager and Stevens
"We Are TEH WORLD"
"This Used to Be My Playground" - Madonna
"Can You Feel TEH LURV Tonight" - Elton John
and let the pelting with rocks and garbage being for this riot-inciting pick...
"Stairway to Heaven" - Led Zeppelin (I love Zep, man, but this song is fucking KRYPTONITE)

you like the way

I can't remember the rest, but that's one of those "so bad it's good" songs.

I think the Rabbit was pointing out that you mentioned "Ebony & Ivory" which was Stevie Wonder & Paul McCartney (0/1), but pulled a line from "The Girl is Mine" rather than "Ebony & Ivory" (0/2).
