The New York Dolls

Sounded pretty great, despite only 3 (2?) original members -- definitely Johansen and Syl. Not sure if the bassist was original or not.

Still, they were a lot of fun and closed the show with "Personality Crisis".
And I have to say that Syl's stage banter is some of the very worst that I've ever heard. Johansen, was all smiles, though and seemed to enjoy Syl's ramblings.

Sharon thought they were "pretty awful" and that "every song sounds the same". But then it's not really her kind of music.

A lot of fun. Hopefully they'll rerun it sometime soon.

It's a good bet that Arthur Kane didn't make the show.

Dead, I presume.
Shows you how much I know about the band.

Todd, I would have thought you would have read Please Kill Me, the oral history of Punk. It's right up your alley. Go get it today.

A very good documentary that had a lot of discussion on Obner.

Seconded. It's where I first learned of Marquee Moon.

I've heard of it, but (obviously) never read it.
Time to go to Borders.

Please Kill Me is a great read, but it won't explain what happened to Arthur Kane.

I thought it discussed his death? It's been a while since I read it.

Likewise. I definitely remember Johnny Thunders' death being the closing piece/theme, but I don't remember much mention of Kane.

Nope. The book was published just in time to add a quick note about Jerry Nolan's death, but Kane was still years away from the Dolls reunion.

Definitely. You can rip through it in an afternoon. The stuff on the Dolls and Stooges was just great.

No, it's not from last night's show, but it's still pretty damn cool.

I caught New York Doll on one of the film channels last week, and had totally forgotten that Kane had died. I was actually bummed about it...but the documentary is great.

the problem with shit like this is that the stage is the size of an endzone (or even bigger?!?!?!)

dudes like this need to be cramped onto a stage barely able to move stumbling over each other.
