So far I like it quite a bit, but I wish the Tunde track hadn't been bumped from the album. I guess he will prob release an EP of the other collabs.

This album kicks so much ass it's amazing. What a 2005... we may have surpassed all of '04 already.

On deck: New 808 State and Mogwai...

Grabbed it this morning... yowza! New Fischerspooner and Mars Volta leaked today as well on Oink.

dude, I can't download from oink. Any chance you could share the fischerspooner via zip file like Dalen did?

btw, thanks Dalen... looking forward to listening.

I'm crazy busy at work today... but I will try to get it up on yousendit tonight. Of course, this all depends on the outcome of the Illinois game!

edit: oops, never mind, I just saw the other thread! Thanks!!!

I've listened to the album once all the way through, and think it's awesome. It has the same basic feel as one word extinguisher, but is a lot tighter, in my opinion. Whenever I see artists collaborating, I am always skeptical, and try not to get my hopes up, but I think the collabs on this album work really well. In general, I just really like the way he can create beats that have a lot of energy but at the same time give you a soft warm fuzzy feeling.

Prefuse and Aesop Rock is a match made in heaven. I always felt like Aesop Rock never had quite the right beats behind him. I think this is especially the case with Bazooka Tooth, where I thought the production was too muddy and drowned him out too much. The production prefuse does for his track fits his style really well -- it complements what he's doing on the mic, instead of being purely utilitarian or going too far and overshadowing him.

Though I like the album, I feel like prefuse has yet to produce his piece de resistance. The album isn't too great a departure from one word ex, which is okay because it seems like he's still developing his sound and improving his production. Basically, I'm stoked on the album, and can't wait to see how his sound develops in the future.

(I just previewed my post. Sorry for sounding like a high school book report.)

I can't think of the last time one of his tracks wasn't hot...

Thanks for the album - sounds great in the bits and pieces I've heard, but I won't be able to give it a proper listen 'till tomorrow (unfortunately)...

one word extinguisher > this one

jizz all you want, but OWE albums really defined a sound (for me) but this one doesn't really do a whole lot that interesting out of it. mostly a buncha big/interesting names nicely rolled into his whole thing. does that make it more appealing? i'm mostly meh on it.

that and i feel the prodn (and the whole execution in general) say on"the end of biters" and "plastic" for instance destroys anything on here (altho "morale crusher feat beans" and "just the thought" are great as far as interesting beats/hiphop track wise). and nothing as cohesive and beautiful sounding as "choking you" or "storm returns" either. (altho "rain edit" and "bad memory" interludes are great. why the fuck are his best tracks 'interludes'?? motherfucker what's wrong with you  ).

i guess what i am trying to say here is....... its a good album. lol.

where's kph on this one. i think he loves OWE to death. or something.

ps. extinguisher outtakes still takes the cake tho

fair enough. you're right about the end of plastic -- that's probably my favorite prefuse moment.

I'm in the middle of listening to the it fully for the first time and I don't know where I stand so far. It's great, for sure. But I loved One Word Extinguisher too.

One thing I noticed: Claudio (I assume the Coheed and Cambria one) is credited as lending vocals to "Pastel Assassins" but I didn't hear him on there. Not that I like Coheed and Cambria, but it might have been interesting hearing that voice over some Prefuse stuff.

Aw, shite! I missed it!

:(

Say, Dalen, how in the world do you get access to all this great music ahead of time? Do you work in the industry?

You don't have to answer that question. I'm just curious.

friends in the industry [certain well known mags & labels;)]/ soulseek / bit torrent sites

if it's a release i get from a friend in the industry, i'll post 1 tune to let people hear it, not the entire album.
