Quote:
Mtv scored the first interview with Rage Against the Machine guitartist Tom Morello since their reunion was announced last week. Is there a point to the gig? Apparently so. Morello says the time is right "To deliver a knockout blow to the Bush administration."

"Is it coincidence that in the seven years that Rage Against the Machine has been away that the country has slid into right-wing purgatory? I think not," he said. "It occurred to all of us that the times were right to see if we can knock the Bush administration out in one fell swoop, and we hope to do that job well. This administration has done enough damage that it may take generations to undo. This is an administration that believes it's beyond the laws of the land, which is fine for emperors, but not so great for presidents. One thing this president isn't above is the laws of physics, and there is no action without reaction. And we're part of that reaction."

While the title of the article says Coachella will be the band's only reunion gig, the story itself hints at something different. There's no direct quote, but Mtv says Morello "wouldn't rule out the possibility of future Rage activities." We'll see.

Because it's so bad, I just... you know. I just hope it's fake.

If this is true, should we then blame you for being away?

How much did the Coach people offer the Smiths to reform? I assumed that was the reason Rage were doing it.

It's a short clip, but I'm pretty sure this is the most ridiculous quote:
Quote:

Because Rage was such a powerful engine for change before. A political resistance of millions couldn't reign in Bush, but the RATM SuperTeam will step in to save the day!

I hope they come out naked, stand there with tape over their mouths, and don't play a note again! God, what a show!

Let's not forget they DID get Alan Keyes into a Michael Moore-led mosh pit...

Great, now release Chris Cornell so he can get back to something good.

Agreed. Cornell's solo output= suck. Audioslave=utter crap.

Someone needs to wake up Kim Thayil and tell him to start using his guitar again.

Kim Thayil is still using his guitar... to change the fuckin' world, man. Don't you have that one-off No WTO Combo disc (Jello Biafra - vox; Krist Novaselic - bass; the singer from Novaselic's post-Nirvana band Sweet 75 - drums; Kim Thayil - guitar)? For Chrissake, it was recorded live to tape at a guerrilla show in Seattle during the trusties's successful struggle (if by "success", I mean, they got jobs with the World Bank & Int'l Monetary Fund, when they finished their policy degrees in '02 & '03) against the World Trade Organization.... It is the shizzle, as Snoop would say.

Sweet 75 came out in like 1995 or something didn't it?

I heard that Thayil is an engineer now.

& Dexter from the Offspring is a Ph.D in micro-bio... Doesn't mean he's a biologist. Thayil can come back from it, then.

Sweet 75 was '96, I think; Grohl's post-Nirvana work predates Krist's by about a year. No WTO Combo is late '99 or early '00, & released by Alternative Tentacles, of course.

It seems pretty obvious that Audioslave will release the final album on their contract sometime this year and Cornell will get back to doing what he does worst, releasing solo material. Rage will then re-form for a concert tour and tease us with a possible forthcoming album, a la Pixies 2004... and then not deliver. Maybe like Chris Rock said, I'm a low expectation having mother f'er, but it certainly feels that is what will transpire. Either way, it sure seems Cornell hates sharing the spotlight with a band.
