I'm definitely on board with Mike, Thurman, and Bruce Mathews.

I'm with Fu. Monk deserves it much more than Irvin.

And when the fuck are they going to put Ray Guy in? If he doesn't get in, no punter ever will, so they might as well do away with the fucking position altogether.

Since the punters and kickers in in college get stuck with all the leftover crappy numbers like 93, I think they should just slap a P or K on their jerseys.

When Monk retired, he had 940 receptions, second all-time. He was briefly #1, but Jerry Rice passed him not long before he retired. The closest HOFer to that total is Steve Largent with 819.

Caught 106 passes in 1984, which was a record until the early 1990s, when everyone and his brother passed it.

Monk caught a pass in 183 consecutive games.

Monk only had 68 career touchdowns, but that's due more to Joe Gibbs style of offense than Monk's lack of production.

3 Super Bowl Rings (though he didn't play due to injury in XVII).

0 Arrests.

It's not a one or the other thing, Irv and Monk both deserve it, but the HoF is making itself into a joke by not putting Art Monk in.

Is Henry Ellard in the Hall?

I don't disagree. It's pretty bad that Monk can't get in, though.

i agree that he's awesome and is a no brainer to be in the hall, i was just responding to FT's comment.

but your rundown was worth it for the "O Arrests"

Damn. I didn't see that FT had put Monk over Irvin. Whoops.

As just posted above, I think they are both no-brainers.

Yeah, I actually thought that this might be Monk's year after reading a thing that Fat Peter King wrote about how someone pointed out to him the similarities between Harry Carson (a guy who King shilled for like he was a family member) and Monk; King stated at the end of the piece that he had changed his mind and would indeed support Monk from then on.

Not that anybody in that room is necessarily going to change the way they feel based on Peter King, I just thought someone of King's [sic] weight might shift the pendulum to Monk's side.

On Riggins' radio show yesterday, they were actually talking about how they though King's shift would get Monk in.

Easy on the "great" tag for Collinsworth. He was pretty good.

Jesus. Scott Garceau isn't qualified to vote for a People's Choice Award.

This is the "hey look, its John Candy" drive. True or not, still the greatest story ever.

I believe it. Mostly because 75% of the time I went out to the mound to talk to a pitcher (and 100% for one guy), we were scoping some gal in the stands and avoiding baseball talk altogether.
