Local used store has season 1 (and 2?) on DVD for $30.

Worth getting?

Sounds like a not-good-enough deal to me, but I'm not sure which version of the show you're talking about, so here's what Amazon has to offer right now.

US version: season 1: $19.99 new, season 2: $33.99

British version: series 1: $22.99 new, series 2: $18.49, Office Special: $19.99, "Complete BBC Collection": $39.99

If he's getting both seasons for $30, I'd say it's worth it.

If you're talking about the US version, keep in mind that the first season set is just 6 episodes. But $30 for both is a good deal - & as Timis said, season 2 is near friggin' perfection.

And both sets have loads of really quality extra comedy bits.

Ok, thanks. I just called and he said it's the British version- Season 1 & 2.

Bummer?

I thought that the British series is much better than the American one actually.

No - the UK version's very, very good as well. Just different than the US one. But keep in mind each UK season is only like, a half dozen episodes. And aside from the 2 seasons, there's a couple specials that wrap the series up. There's a "complete series" box that has everything - I have it, & it's probably the best thing to have.

In other words, $30 for only two of the series isn't much of a deal compared to this.

Yep. Plus, it's nice having everything in 1 package. I lucked out & got mine @ Costco for $20.

Holy crap, that's a hell of a deal. I unfortunately bought all three as they were released, so I paid way too much separately.

And, by the way, FP, you really need to see the Office Special so don't think you can get away with not buying that. After series 2 ends, you're left kind of hanging. It "ends" the show, sure, but it's kind of a downer. The special ties things up very nicely. Without that it feels like kind of a let down.

There was some kind of extra bonus show on this set, so maybe that was it.

I've got $25 credit at the store for turning in about 362 used discs, so it'll be like getting it almost free.

Thanks!

Yeah, I was kinda pleased. :) I got into the show later than most via a BBC America marathon. And by then the "complete" box was available. I got mine for $20 with a Costco "$20 off" coupon.
