Yeah it's really nasty down here in the South Loop. People who live here swear that the wind is worse in our area then the rest of the city.

So that coupled with this cold makes going outside absolutely unbearable. I had to drive my son to OP to school today, after that I decided the baby and I aren't leaving the condo for the next two days.

It's just not necessary in this. I heard it's supposed to hit the high 20's by next saturday.

I think I'll rejoice when it hits 40. That'll be like summer.

Not quite so bad here in New England, the wind chills are only -4. But fuck it I'm still gonna strap on some headphones, crank some Lucero or DBT and go for a walk. I hate being inside all day, it makes me crazy.

-16F when I walked into work this morning. Windchills close to -30F. And I work downtown, which benefits from the "heat island" effect. Out in the suburbs/exurbs/rural areas, it was even colder.

I just got back from my walk. It is indeed way below zero. I had on a mask, gloves, hat, and a fleece vest under my coat. It was'nt that bad. I chose Hold Steady. I find if you block out the sound of the whipping wind with tunes, you almost forget its there. My feet are numb though.

My mail didn't even come today. I bet he sat in the bar on the corner all day. They figure it's the ghetto, we'll take it.

I've never been in "tonys - a quiet place to drink." there are no windows, and I can never persuade anyone to escort me there. which seems necessary.

But, I hear it's popular with postal workers from my racist neighbors, who've lived here 40 years and are glad to see another white person move in. I can't imagein they're wrong about anything of significance.

It's a bit better today. High might actually reach double-digits --- 10°!
