Also, per an earlier post, Mike Mills is indeed a massive monger. I can elaborate if need be.

Okay. I've told this story before but I guess it bears repeating.

So it's 1999 and I'm at UGA in Athens and REM is about to begin their worldwide tour for the UP album. The whole band is in town for rehearsal and I knew this because the night before I saw the Minus 5 play in town with Mills, Buck, and hired hand and Posies band member Ken Stringfellow, and Scott McCaughey.

Cut to the night after. Now, I knew this girl, age 20 or 21 at the time, who had hooked up with Mills at some point about 3 months prior to this. Anyway there was post last call party to go down that night at her house. Turns out that her and one of her friends run into him and Stringfellow in Nowhere Bar about an hour before last call and they agree to come to the party.

Ends up being about 12 people back at this house and most were on X. Mills and Stringfellow hang out all night and smoking other people's weed, drinking other people's beer, and playing tunes.

At some point the topic of sucking toes comes up and Mills states that he is a master at this. The girl tells him to prove it to her and he proceeds to get on his knees in the middle of the party and start sucking her toes with everyone watching. At one point he looks at Stringfellow and says "What the hell are you looking at, help me out here!" and he joins in on the other foot.

So, there's Strinfellow and Mills both sucking this girl's toes while about 10 people on X stare on to the strands of The Stone's "Tattoo You".

Around 5am they start to leave because they have to be in Atlanta that afternoon for more tour prep. I find out later that he tells this girl as he was leaving "I'd love to stay and knock boots with you but I've got to go".

A line I still quote to this day. SO MONGEROUS!!


It was cool to hang with them though, especially when someone put on MTV and we sat there and talked about music and commented on each band that came on. Still, such a monger and I'm pretty sure he still pulls shit like that on the regular in Athens. There's certainly not a shortage of 18-25 year olds down there.


Oh to be a rock star.

Yayus. I don't remember being good when I was there, but I must've done something right.

DAT badass santoku knife I been lusting after... Mmmmm... folded, damascus japanese steel... (drool) I did NOT deserve this. It now lives in a drawer, in its box, just waiting for the next time I have to slice something special. I have taken it out about 15 times already. It is mesmerizing.





oh and Mills sucks toes! Awesome.
