Frank Black had a pre-Pixies solo career?

I vote for Ted Leo.

Also, I don't know how you separate Robyn Hitchcock's creditable solo stuff from the Soft Boys. The only striking difference is the absense of Kimberly Rew. Now, if you're talking about anything post-Globe of Frogs, then you've taken dolt to a whole new level, 'cuz that stuff sucks to no end.

You still haven't heard the new album i take it. I think it deserves the return to form label. He definitely went through a long boring spell there, but I wouldn't put the cut off at Globe of Frogs...probably more at Persplex Island.

No.
I'm talking w/ The Egyptians. So.. maybe the "solo" stuff isn't so much better, as on a par with.

EDIT for an add:
Emitt Rhodes (The Merry-Go-Round)

Will Smith
Leaving DJ Jazzy Jeff to persue acting was the best move he ever made.

Elliott Smith (during and post Heatmiser -- I always liked his songs better than Neil's).
