Wow, that looks sweet. But scotland a lang ways away for a short break. Have a blast. In a quiet rural way, of course.

I was only there for a day, b ut really enjoyed what I saw. Kabob gave a fantastic tour and I'd love to go back.

We've got a heavy frost in Glasgow right now but it will be a much colder in the Highlands maybe abouut -5 at sea level which is a nice temperature for walking in.

I want it to stay cold because that skies stay clear and we don't get cloud and rain.

I hear there's this awesome seafood paella at whatever that market is downtown. Also, there's some crazy ass 7 layer secret cake that's supposed to be so good that you just forfeit your soul to satan right there.

I've never been there, but i've got some friends in the burbs, i'll see what i can find out.

When are you here? I could probably do a dinner or something if you have time.

I'm glad you chose Seattle; it's such an amazing city. Great food, friendly and relaxed people, unique neighborhoods, excellent music scene, and just a general kind of vibe that feels nice. I'm a fan.

Excellent! I'm in tomorrow afternoon around two, clear out Sunday night. My schedule so far unsullied, guidebook and umbrella packed.

Check out EMP if you've got the time... I think it's like $20 to get in, and you'd probably need AT LEAST 3 hours to completely absorb everything (and even then you probably won't).
http://www.emplive.org/

Check out Pike Place Market... touristy, yes, but you can find some cool edibles there.
http://www.pikeplacemarket.org/frameset.asp?flash=true

Do the underground tour... starts in some bar near Occidental Park, can't remember where. Again, a tad touristy, but the guides are locals and are in school so they always are entertaining.
http://www.undergroundtour.com/

Drink some LOCAL BREW.... check out Maritime Pacific, Pike Brewing, Red Hook, Elliott Bay Brewing, among many many others.

Personally I'm not opposed to staying downtown, because it's fairly pedestrian-friendly, and you can take the monorail from downtown to EMP. Also, aren't buses free downtown?

Dunno yet, thought I'd read it on the plane. Figured have some seafood paella and soul-destroying cake if Phil comes through with details, hit some record and/or thrift stores, see this market thing everyone talks about, maybe take a ferry somewhere for the ride, clearly take the monorail somewhere for the sheer joy of that, catch a museum (History and Industry? Art?), this EMP thing seems excellent, and of course there will be beer. A gig if there's one to be found. Whatcha up to yourself?

Awesome on the Ferry thing - for me taking a Ferry is an essential part of any first time vistor to Seattle's tour...such a beautiful view of the city from the water.....I'd suggest taking the Ferry to Bainbridge Island - there are a ton of shops there within easy walking distance of the Ferry and it is a shorter ride than the Bremerton Ferry. If you go mid-day I'm told that Cafe Nola on Winslow Way has an incredible Pecan French Toast - http://www.cafenola.com/

I was in Seattle this time last year and absolutely loved it. Probably one of my favorite cities I've ever visited.

I enjoyed the Japanese Garden at Washington Park Arboretum

Alki Beach was cool just to hang out and there's a small park up the hill where you can look at a view of the city from across the sound.

Chop Suey
Neumo's
Showbox
Crocodile Cafe
Tractor Tavern
Sunset Tavern

Open 11-4 Tuesday to Friday, though right up til then I was so coming home with meat. If getting from the airport goes very smoothly I might just make it. Can I take the monorail?

Looks like the Sunset has Friday's most credible, non-sold out gig.
