New album that apparently came out in November. Just was searching for US tour dates after noticing them on the SXSW lineup and stumbled on it. I guess maybe billz was in the hospital and gets a pass for not informing us. Anyone heard it though?

A review:

Am pleased to report that Imperious Delirium, the umpteenth Saints release, is a remarkably top album. I mean, ‘Je Fuckin’ T’Aime’ does sound a bit like a studio jam and ‘Getting Away with Murder’ though full of true sentiments is a wee bit dinky, especially the ‘12 lb toothbrush’ riff towards the end. But the rest’s mighty: ‘Other Side of the World’ is as grand as anything Bailey’s ever done, if not more; maybe kind of ‘Apology Accepted’ meets/roots ‘Waterloo Sunset’. Bailey does sing a li’l like Ray Davies here. ‘So Close’ is like one of the Saints’ 80s singles, a la ‘Just Like Fire Would’. ‘Drowning’ isn’t quite the rock out Bailey seems to think it is but it’s still a great piece of work. ‘War of Independence’ is a bit like Alternative TV trying to sound like The Church. That good.

The Saints at the moment are a three-piece band. They operate out of Amsterdam and Bailey writes almost all of the songs. The pictures of him on the CD sleeve masks his face while making him appear slender, which for all I know he is these days. The album, however, is not. It’s colossal.

Found it and ordered it.

There's a box set that includes their first three records, each of which I'd rate 5/5. After the first three, Ed Kuepper left, and Chris Bailey soldiered on. "Prehistoric Sounds" is my favorite album, with "Eternally Yours" a close second. Fave song is easily "Know Your Product".

I was unaware of this new record, but the album they put out in '05, "Nothing's Straight In My House" is a rocker--and includes Marty Wilson-Piper of Church fame on guitar. I'll get an order off for the new one stat.

Yeah the first 2 are classics, "All Fools Day" was another good one.

Speaking of Australian mongers...

Spencer P. Jones released an "Unreleased" collection last year. Mine hasn't shown up yet, but this looks ferocious.
