This is tonight, right?

I was actually kinda interested in the reunion as far as possible shows, but coming out on the Grammys is sorta grotesque.

My fondness for Copeland is not enough to get me to watch the Grammys.

I thought they were pretty damn good. Nice move not trying to do the medley and just playing "Roxanne"--which I also enjoyed the arrangement of.

All that hoopla for one song? Maybe they'll be back.

I watched the Police and then turned it off.

That Chris Brown guy seems pretty talented (i didn't realize he was that kid from the OC)

the James Brown tribute was pretty cool

How much were the Police paid for the two minutes they were on for?

The Grammy's = officially dead.

I used to enjoy this, at least they had some entertaining musical moments and every once in a while an award might surprise you, but what a fucking suckfest.

Cee-Lo looked like he was completely amused at the bombastic arrangement of "Crazy".
-All military uniforms, march-beat snares, and 40-piece choirs!

Was it me, or did he have the hint of a shit-eating grin?

Oh, and God help me, I thought Christina Aguilera was excellent singing "It's a Man's Man's World".

The Grammy's have been dead for many many moons...

Copeland, however, was as kick ass as ever. Sting is really trying to appeal to the indie crowd (his next album is being produced by the guy who produced Interpol) and Andy Summers is just plain chunky.
Nevertheless, if given the chance I would see them in a heartbeat, they at least sounded good, if only they played 'so lonely' instead of the exceedingly tired roxanne.

Yeah no shit. What rock have you been under?

I watched a good bit of it anyway because I like music and am pop culture obsessed in general.

That being said, A FUCKING EAGLES TRIBUTE!?!? Christ.

Kind of interesing watching it with someone who follows a lot of the bands that won. I had no idea about the Dixie Chicks being banned from most country stations and shunned by the Nashville establishment in general.

Also, does anyone else think that having a Motown tribute was throwing a bone to them after the Dreamgirls controversy? Smokey Robinson was just kind of sad IMO.

Props to Luda and TI for sweeping the rap categories.

They did that tip on Top of the Pops months ago. Cool arrangement, though.

Well, I knew about the flack that they caught from their comments on Bush a couple years ago and I knew they drew a lot of heat from it but I didn't know that there was some systematic ban by country stations.

Hell, the record went mulit-platinum anyway. I didn't realize that it had gotten way more political since the initial incident.

I say good on em. They shouldn't have to apologize for shit.

she's great. there's no need to apology just because the rockists here think anyone who did time as a mouseketeer sucks.

I thought it was awful nice of them to put the only thing I was even slightly interested in seeing at the top of the show.

Best:
Justin Timberlake ALL over the place
Those two little teeny boys who danced during Chris Brown's set
What Yail said about the Police not turning Roxanne into a medley
Cobie Smulders announcing an award
That dude dancing during the James Brown tribute
OKGO dressing as weird somethings and getting a Grammy
Mary J Blige winning a bunch of awards... I liked seeing Prince behind her

Worst:
Sitting through the Grammys
Eagles tribute (the band that wasn't Carrie Underwood made me want to break something)
Natalie Cole talking over the old jazz dude
Red Hot Chili Peppers

Hell, it was just cool that they even let Ornette Coleman in the room, let alone gave him an award!

Add in to your "best":
Ornette Coleman getting any airtime at all (despite Natalie Cole)
The Corinne Bailey Rae/John Legend/John Mayer performance. Really did not expect much out of that, and John Legend was friggin' awesome. Never really heard the dude before, but he's just made my "need to investigate more" list.

Worst:
Ornette Coleman receives lifetime achievement award, but doesn't get best instrumental jazz album award for one of his best albums - goes to the recently deceased Michael Brecker (probably for posterity. Boo to posterity.)
