Has anyone here lived with a roommate who has gotten married while you lived together?

My roommate's getting married September 1st and I just found out he was even in love with this girl about a month ago. Am I supposed to offer to move out or should I be prepared for him to get a new place with his bride?

I've never been in a situation, nor do I know anyone who has. Anyone have any experiences with this or an opinion about it? And obviously I know I should be having this conversation with my roommate, but he's not around right now.

Moving really stinks and I REALLY hope that he leaves me here and goes elsewhere.

Is it "his" apartment or "your" apartment (or did you find it together)?



Also, is there anyway I could offer him a minimal fee to greet you each day with "morning, fuckwhore"?

That's fucking weird, but I'd say that he's obligated to get the fuck out of your spot, which almost assuredly means that you now have 2 roommates.

I think it would be his responsibility to move out.

radcliffe, it's his apartment, but the name on the lease is of two or three roommates ago. so, he was here first.

he already calls me a variety of colorful words, so i'm sure he'd pass on your greeting for free, dickface.

I think your best course of action is to sleep with him and derail the manage in order to save your place.

Or spread hateful lies about both of them, citing the other person as the source.

Seriously though... you'll probably either have to move out or live with an awkward situation.

I would just sit down and talk about it. If he moves out, would you be able to find someone else to move in? If not, could you handle the rent until you do? I would think that as a courtesy, they would move out. They are upsetting the balance. I can't imagine a newly married couple wanting to spend time in an apt with someone else living there.

tell his girlfriend fiancee whatever that he has been talking about buying a house. that should make something happen.

Yeah, September is pretty far away. I guess I'm just excited at the prospect of living alone. Since I've never been in anything close to this situation, I don't want to have unrealistic expectations. I like him a lot and would hate to lose him as a friend.

And sleeping with him is not an option, B. It just isn't.

Its one of those real sticky situations. I had a friend in the same situation, but the roommate and his girlfriend actually bought a house and ended up moving out. That would be a semi-ideal solution I suppose but who knows what will happen in your case.

Not really. He's like my brother. Plus, he's about seven inches shorter than me. AND he's friends with the slampiece, so that's not nice.

Usually, I'd expect the couple getting married would want to get their own place. He can't just expect you to be reay to move out as he's the one making the big life change and it wold be really odd if he was expecting to move his new bride into a situation with another female room mate...not that it sounds like a bad idea to me, but, ya know, most chicks not really down with that.

As long as you can swing the rent, looks like you can be looking forward to a place of your own.

marriages are so much more successful now that people try living together first.

Yeah, that seems odd to me too, but there are circumstances sometimes that prevent that. Isn't she in a different city?

Normal people would get a place of their own....to, you know, start a life together.

If this guy is even considering getting married and living in the same place with his new bride AND a roommate he is not ready for marriage or day to day activities....like feeding himself.

Although, looking for a place right now that I can afford while I'm working freelance and she's in grad school is pretty depressing. Who knows where we'll end up.
