I just looked in the "itunes" folder that was created in my music directory, and there were hundreds of temp files stacked up in there - equaling like 30 gigs! I found an Apple page that said something along the lines of "Oh yeah, just delete all that stuff."

Crazy. You might wanna look in this folder on your computers if you notice mass storage being eaten up.

itunes is way too vile anymore. it modifies your files without you knowing about it, it tries to be 'supersecret' with stuff and just ends up screwing the whole thing up.

Can you be more specific?

I ask because there's a lotta shit in there with important-sounding titles, and my iTunes is maddeningly slow when playing through songs (ten seconds of freeze-out between songs, all programs halt, cursors stop blinking, I go get a beer, it finally starts again). I'd LOVE to delete some shit.

No, I'm not on a ten year old Gateway.

I guess all the .tmp files if you see a whole bunch. Just keep the most recent one.

I wonder why this happened?

I checked on my Mac (which has upwards of 60 GB of music) and my work PC (which has maybe 2 GB) and found none of these temp files on either.

I figured it out. I'm going wireless to a roku at my stereo and the firefly server has a little beef with iTunes.

There's an advanced setting that copies anything you add to your library into the iTunes folder; that was my first guess as to fuse's situation.

When files are missing, there's a little gray exclamation mark that pops up next to it in iTunes. I haven't deleted the files, they're still on my computer, yet iTunes says that it can't find the file. This usually happens a few weeks after getting a download or something. What can I do to remedy this? It's okay since the actual file isn't lost, it's just a pain in the butt to find it and put it back into iTunes.

I think that means that the path has changed somewhere along the line. If you've moved a folder around here and there, the program gets lost and can't find its way back to the file.

Stupid question... when you say that I've moved a folder around here and there, does that mean that I've maybe moved the folder icon? (I download all albums/songs to my desktop and move them to my "Listen to Me" folder)

It's more of annoyance than anything.

Yup. First, do the movin'. Then, drag-n-drop into iTunes.
